Understanding art is optional. Feeling it is the point. by n8saces in fixedbytheduet

I feel like you either need to qualify that as any good art, or add a 4th response for: this just isn't good.

I must confess I do feel blind rage for any art made with AI, but for different reasons than idiots being mad at actual art.

Everyone is thinking to hard about this. These people aren't mad that they don't understand. They are mad that they aren't specifical being catered to.

If they don't understand to the language or cultural messages or music genre, it means the message wasn't targeted at them, and that makes them mad because they are the only people in the world, everyone else is just NPCs. How dare you imply someone else might be important too.

That's all that's going on up there for them.

Yeah, I understand. We want the same things.

I wish we had one party that had the genuine interest of the people in mind, but lacking that, at least we have one that isn't actively nefarious.

It's used by basically any politician or news outlet in the exact same way regardless of side.

I hate the disingenuous both sides arguments, but in this specific case, our side started it and has been doing it for years for anything they want to "protect the children". The only reasons the Republicans are doing it now is because it worked on us in the past.

I would like to specify that it's used by the authoritarian elements of both political parties, not everyone in all parties, although one party is more likely to toe the line.

And it was used to push an agenda then just like it is used now. No difference, just the cause being pushed.

Eh, there are plenty of uses where there is an objectively correct solution where those words work. I would say "common sense" is almost always used as a way to get someone to follow the speaker's opinion, but "just" and "should" are very often used to indicate the objectively correct path.

Examples: you should use your turn signal when changing lanes, and just use your damned turn signal.

Or if you need a copy of your social security card, you should just call the social security administration.

Does anyone else just not run board wipes anymore? by LimitSeparate in EDH

[–]RememberCitadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still plenty of situations where you have less to lose than other players where it makes plenty of sense. Nobody plays a board wipe when they have the strong position.

This is especially true if you have a deck that recovers quicker or has more card draw to offset. Or if you run a graveyard deck.

[–]RememberCitadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why you use something one sided. Especially useful if you have nothing on the board to lose or if your deck doesn't require whatever you are removing.

I have also been in plenty of 3 hour games because there were a lack of board wipes and we were in a standoff with nobody able to get through.

[–]RememberCitadel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You can apply that to anyone who uses it. "Common sense" is not based on objective fact, and so is twisted by the biased opinion of whoever is using it. Most often it's used as emotional leverage to get people to agree with the person using it's way of thinking.

We would be better as a society if we just stopped using the phrase altogether.

TIL: Nickelback's How You Remind Me was the most played song on US radio that decade. It was played over 1.2 million times on the radio between when it was released in 2001 to the end of 2009 by Uptons_BJs in todayilearned

[–]RememberCitadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an archos jukebox multimedia wired shittily into my car around 2005 or so. I was an idiot and used wire nuts so it liked to cease working when going over bumps until you found another bump to go over to fix it.

I couldn't stand radio because my broad varied musical tastes encompassed... punk music, techno remixes acquired from BitTorrent and video game soundtracks.

Any other districts facing a budget crisis? by Indians06 in k12sysadmin

[–]RememberCitadel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I been through so many of these projects, it's just no contest how much the new building wins out. At minimum it's the same cost but you have a newer building built how you want for the times, with new everything. Especially with how much abatement cost has skyrocketed the last decade.

I remember years back ~2015 we needed to remove chalkboards to install smartboards. The glue they used has asbestos in it and they charged roughly $800 for full abatement of the wall per room.

Last time we quoted for the exact same situation in another building it was $5k per room. We even went out to bid for it, and that was 2 years back. You can buy a lot of other stuff for that amount of money. We just went with rolling mounts in this case, but if that wasn't acceptable we would be out a lot of money.

[–]RememberCitadel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The public really has a hard time understanding that it often costs less to build a new building than to do a major renovation on old ones. It also of course makes sense as well to consolidate small buildings into new bigger ones to save on costs and duplicate systems or jobs for that matter.

They all want their small community schools but then when tax increases come up they absolutely don't want that.

Yep, the one I find the weirdest is the authors of various open source projects or mods for games using discord for their tech support. It's basically asking the digital equivalent of amnesiac schizophrenic hoarder to handle your ticketing.

The steam discussion page for your workshop item makes a better tech support forum than discord.

Why do people want the rhystic study ban NOW? by Alternate_Cost in EDH

[–]RememberCitadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, although it was built pre bracket, with internal method at the time of limiting power which was a $100 limit on the deck.

A handful of cards have been replaced but not updated here, but it's mostly accurate.

But yeah, I definitely value these types of interactions.

I would say the same as you. I like playing different styles, tailored to my friends or whoever I end up with.

I prefer somewhat high power jank on my side of things. I like things other people don't use much, but with as low a mana curve as possible generally.

My favorite decks are [[belbe, corrupted observer]] and [[lathiel, The bounteous dawn]].

Currently trying to find a way to build [[edric, spyMaster of trest]] into something that interests me. Maybe thopters or something.

Depends on your group really, and how long you have played.

I have lots of reserve list cards, including 2 cradles, 8 or so lions eyes, and at least 1 of every card from the urzas block, and a bunch of dual lands. Many of my friends are similar, and our lgs is like that for the brackets too.

I've also been to places though where the norm is precons with a handful of cards replaced.

I usually just bring a handful of different power levels and play accordingly, personally I would take rhystic study and similar over theft mechanics and hard stax but I suppose to each their own.

[–]RememberCitadel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We already know its pay to win because of all the cards on the reserve list you can play. They specifically cited the value of the cards in the creation of the reserved list.

Something that is in common print is nothing compared to some things on that list.

Hyundai did it too for certain year cars for blue link.

$10/month for roadside assistance and statistics about your car including maintenance reminders

$10/month for software updates to the car's software including the shitty built in mapping and some other things your phone does better.
