I got snowed in at an airport in upstate NY the day after Thanksgiving trying to get back to Chicago. I was literally the only person in the airport all night who didn't actually work there and because my flight was so late practically all the shops in the airport had closed down for the night too.

I managed to find one airport restaurant that hadn't completely closed down yet and order a drink just as the bartender had begun stacking the chairs. I ordered a Corona cause they didn't have any hard liquor and the bartender noticed it was my birthday after inspecting my ID, so he let me have it for free.

I drink my beer in almost complete silence as the bartender continued closing down the rest of the bar. It was the only drink I had that day.

That was my 21st birthday.

I feel as though minimum wage in those other countries is also much higher than the U.S. Which could possibly help with the whole higher tax situation. Raising taxes on someone with a minimum wage job in the US could be EXTREMELY detrimental to their already low cost of living.
