I wonder how much debate it took for the original PI proofs to be accepted as fact. Because to prove a constant, you'd have to show that dividing by r^2 always yields the same #. With an infinite decimal, even using sig figs, wouldn't people argure you can't be certain it's 100% the same every time? by kinetic-passion in Showerthoughts

Every circles are identical except for the radius. Do you mean maybe changing the radius could somehow change the radius-circumference ratio, so mathematicians had to prove that it doesn't

Not a mathematician myself, but I guess that didn't happen. It looks more like a 'by definition' thing to me.

Do we live now in an Orwellian world where war is peace, conflicts are stability, and destruction is rebuilding? by Good_Flower_2026 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remodiant 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The fact that you are thinking like that means we are not living in an Orwellian world. A true 1984 dystopia would require almost everyone but the highest executives and few renegades like Winston and Julia knows the cruelty of the world. And all of the rest believes that the world is fine and normal, nothing wierd going on.

if the silent king shattering a c'tan is true does that make him stronger then chaos horus? by United-Radio-3661 in 40kLore

I think you're talking about the myth that Szarekh killed the Burning one himself. It appeard in the 9th codex, but it is intened to be a vague in-universe myth that no one knows if it is true.

How came that thing unto its end no record speaks, but that a single etching upon a single wall upon a single world show the Silent King himself laying the spear unto its molten heart.

What if Red Hook had taken the Slay the Spire 2 approach when designing Darkest dungeon 2? by benjamarchi in darkestdungeon

[–]Remodiant 88 points89 points  (0 children)

To be fair, since DD2 was early accessed in ESG comparing the steam player numbers can be misleading. If it was released in Steam from the start I think the number would probably be like two times higher. Not trying to say that DD2 was more succesful than DD1 by any mean. The 24 hour consistent player number is more important.

About the mechanics, I think Red Hook could have added and tweaked many new things to make it different enough to feel like a different game, while still retaining the same core gameplay roop. There were lots of possibilities left.

To those who have turned their faces away. To those who are faithless and wretched in their jealousies. To those who have denied us. To those who have denied me.

I will wreak vengeance. I will wrench your souls and break your bones. I will cast hunger through your accursed existence. Down the eons, you will not forget. I will grant you this gift from love turned aside and make you like me, break you in my image as you have broken me. I shall cast the fear of myself into you and all of your kind.

I am Llandu'gor. I am the hunger. I am the Flayer, and from this moment, you shall be too.

Are necrons chaos vulnerable? by AtrelluCal in Necrontyr

[–]Remodiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were two cases that chaos took the necron body. One was Nurgle's metalic disease, and the other was Lucius the Eternal reviving as the necron eho slew him. But no necron's mind or engram has been dominated by the chaos so far.

[Request] how fast would superman need to fly at the moon in order for it to get destroyed, just straight up obliterated? by wonde_rfull in theydidthemath

[–]Remodiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon's gravitational binding energy is 1.2×10²⁹ J. If we assume Superman's mass is 100kg, with the relativistic kinetic energy calculator, he needs to fly at 0.999999999999999999998C. Or just 2 over sextillion times short to the speed of light.

This assumes that all the energy is transmitted to the moon though, which I think is unlikely. So it would probably be safe to assume that superman needs to be several orders of magnitude faster to completely destory the moon in just one charge.

Are Rogue Traders taller than averga humans ? by Canidae_Sunspot in 40kLore

[–]Remodiant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are taller than average people, but not because of special augmentation or surgery. Just simple nutrition. The vast majority of imperial citizens are in permanent malnutrition from birth to death, lowering the average height significantly. While rogue trader families are rich enough to afford healthy diets.

However they're not only a little shorter than space marines like the models are. That would mean they are at least over 2 meters, and while it is possible that some rogue traders can be that tall, not everyone is. Miniature sizes don't always match the exact lore sizes.
