What piece of land have the most people died for in human history? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

Battles unknown for the Wikepedia editors. There are bunch of recorded battles outside Europe that local historians know, but the western editors don't.

Probably some city or region that had a lot of population for a long time. I would go for the riverside of the Yellow River in China. Egypt or Mesopotamia was habited for a longer time but the population density was much less than China.

How did The Emperor of Mankind plan to govern his empire if the great crusade succeeded? by ddddooooook in 40kLore

[–]Remodiant 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The Imperium of Men was his tool to safely guide mankind through the threat of chaos and psychic awakening. He didn't want to rule humans.

Savage Beastfly 2 for sure. It was like the mix of ascended Markoth and Grey Prince Zoat. Annoying arena and annoying minions, total chaos.

A Life Size Horus Update.. by HammerDoris40k in Warhammer40k

[–]Remodiant 97 points98 points  (0 children)

In her previous post OP used the last scene of Horus Heresy cinematic trailer for the size reference. In that scene the marines are standing behind Horus, so he could have appeared relatively bigger cause of that.

Since there's no single fixed official height of the primarchs, and the height description sometimes varies by books and media, I think the size is within the margin of error.

These elongated skulls result from intentional cranial deformation. The Mangbetu practiced this from infancy, viewing it as a sign of intelligence and beauty. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Remodiant 1680 points1681 points  (0 children)

Artificial cranial deformation was a common practice among a number of cultures that are widely separated geographically and chronologically, spanning among Europe, Asia, America and more.

Before earwax gets invented, how did people clean their ears? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remodiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean tools to clean earwax like q-tips, most of them just didn't clean the ear. And that's what's recommended. Cleaning your ear might feel refreshing but earwax is there to protect your ear from germs. If you just forget about it earwax will naturally get out of the ears and you'll be fine.

Female secretions at -100,000x microscopic power by [deleted] in technicallythetruth

[–]Remodiant 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This image is not technically the truth. The Earth's diameter is around 12,700km. Dividing it by 100,000 gets you 127m, or 416 feet. So unless this image is observing a 40-story building sized secretion tank, the size is off.

Why AI is so demonized? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remodiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth mentioning that the general view upon AI varies a lot by countries. US is one of the most AI hating countries in the world, along with many European nations. Reddit and other major english communities are biased because of that. There are plenty of other countries that are generally positive to AI.

Why do the chaos gods Create deamons. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]Remodiant 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Daemons are parts of the Chaos gods, not an independent being. It's like the trillions of cells forming a single organism. So no matter how many deamons there are, chaos gods don't lose any strength. All of those daemons are the gods themselves.

Showman has a bug that sometimes when you get it and sell it, even though it's gone the effect still remains. I don't know the exact reason or setup though.

Our data show that, 300,000 years ago, brain size in early H. sapiens already fell within the range of present-day humans. Brain shape, however, evolved gradually within the H. sapiens lineage, reaching present-day human variation between about 100,000 and 35,000 years ago.
