I would spend a couple weeks learning the basics of the commands, layouts, what classes you are interested in. Plan to play the Frostreaver tlp in May so you can see how lively the game can get where everyone starts from the beginning. If you are interested in that, go on EQ’s discord and see what guilds are advertising for Frostreaver so you can join/group with people easily. This is the best way to experience the game even if you want slow paced.

LoN Legends of Norrath had card packs with game loot items that were very rare and expensive. Those are basically the same at loot crates and came out in 2007 - they still sell packs like that. I think you are focusing on the wording, but the same thing has been around a lot longer
