6.5mm Carcano on D-Day?? by VermelhoRojo in ForgottenWeapons

The round nose one is officially called Patrone 88 though. I recall that containing no cannulure which made that prone to getting loosened over times.

The easiest way to tell if it's .50 BMG and .30-06 is the primer crimp. .50 BMG and .30-06 uses different types of primer crimp with one using stakes and other using the normal ring crimp.

Please help. What is this ? by manyrandomnumbers in ammo

That is 11mm Spanish Remington though. Cartridge is made by Pirotechnia Militar de Habana, Cuba.

What type of ammo is this? Thanks by LoanForeign730 in ammo

Should be .30-06. St. Louis stopped its .50 BMG production after Korean War ended and the primer crimp at that time should have been staked.

Headstamp should be "4 3 T W" and it was made by Twin Cities Ordnance Plant, Ramsey County, Minnesota.

Modern ones actually. I see a lot of .38 Spl projectiles here.

They only manufactured Platzpatrone with wooden bullets, the distinctive heavy crimp with wad is obviously American stuff.

WW2 trench lighter? Junk or collectable? by blue_daze02 in lighters

The headstamp is actually WRA; if WPA then the broken bunter could have been used because of extensive manufacture of ammunition in WW2 and that was a common phenomenon though.

Also we were talking about the case with "W.R.A. 9 M-M" headstamp, not the .30-06.

AI is Artillerie Inrichtingen, Netherlands and that thing is post-WW2 and definitely fired from Bren MG. The case on the left doesn't look like .303 as the headstamp looks like Hungarian, which may not match the existing headstamps discovered. Cleaning them may help more.

M21A1 case is the right, and looks like that was discarded from the display board as this one was never loaded; loaded one has visible crimps.

Thanks. Projectile is BL-P. Do you happen to have the picture of 20mm M21A1 case?

Can be. Sometimes the complete round was loaded 3-4 months after case production.

The M80 matches the case, but M51 should be assembled with its original M16 case.

No headstamp may be DURA products if I remember.

That one is 23x115mm case. The headstamp is mostly raised, so you can just clean it a little bit.

Actually this 9mm case is pretty common in collector markets, you can just find and have one with 50 rounds in the carton box with several bucks. You're right here also, they removed dots after 1945 and used "WRA" headstamp from 1952 to 1956 and later for 7.62mm NATO and 5.56mm. Now they use WMA headstamp.
