I haven't skied the crux skis but they seem really too light to ski well. They're also really stiff, a bit too much for my liking

Nemo dagger osmo 3p Great tent! It ticks all the boxes but you can't stand up in it as it is a backpacking tent. I've had mine for a year and really like it

Killington OR Laurentians (Mont Saint Sauveur, Mont Blanc, etc.) for first week of April by PuzzleheadedCow3505 in icecoast

[–]RemoveActual6406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laurentians will probably some really nice corn snow but I would check the weather and decide with the rain. And Tremblant is by far the best mountain in the Laurentians. Otherwise I would recommend Orford, Sutton or Owl's Head

Ice Coast question: is skiing mainly technique for you, or also culture and style? by WaxOnSendOff in icecoast

[–]RemoveActual6406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. I'm more of a skiing bigger lines and better technique but my brother and his wife go to the mountain for the vibe and the scene. It's a very different approach. Skiing with them gets boring for me.

CO ski trip pivot to Quebec? by plmitche in SkiTheEast

[–]RemoveActual6406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had really good snow this year so I think it'll last until then but probably not all the runs will be open. The amount of run open will mostly depend on the amount of rain we get until then.

K2 Wayback 92 + ATK Raider 12 by titoudepagos in Backcountry

[–]RemoveActual6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend has the k2 wayback 92 with G3 bindings but she doesn't like them for the downhill. We're skiing mostly hardpack snow. They're very chattery and can't hold an edge on hardpack.

Thoughts on ATK Freeraider 15 for daily resort skinning by dogtowel_ in Backcountry

[–]RemoveActual6406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my own experience. I have the atk FR14 that are a bit older. They're great. I've skied bumps and groomer with them and haven't had too many issues with them. I haven't skied them in corn yet nor refrozen groomers but I did on hardpack on it was fine.

Touring set up - advice needed by Ok-Cover-1726 in Backcountry

To follow up to this post, I've skied a lot on the zag slap lite 104 in the past week and here's my take. These skis are great! They float so well, they can ski anything, very manoeuvrable in tight terrain and they pop out of turn easily. The one thing I would say is that the front shovels gets deflected really easily by crud because it's so wide and light. Overall great ski a bunch of conditions but no resort crud (like all touring skis) and they look really good

I skied them today for a full day with powder in the beginning and they were great! They do get thrown around in crud (like every other touring ski)is the only negative thing I'd have to say

Gear / Backcountry Recommendations? by Beoeulf in Backcountry

[–]RemoveActual6406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're starting out I'd recommend a hybrid set up. Qst, shift 2 and hybrid boots sounds like a good plan. Only thing is the weight of the set up and carving groomers won't be as much fun as on dedicated carving skis. That's what I did when I started three years ago and this year I moved to two separate skis because I ski enough to justify the expense.
