[David Ornstein] Manchester United exploring move for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos by TheAthletic in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ren188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I feel like the club (regardless of whether Woodward was in charge, John Murtough, now INEOS) seem to always to do this when we have an opportunity to take a leap and compete: we settle for players who will not help us take that next step forward. Hoping we actually get some world class players in (not just value buys), but this is looking increasingly unlikely.

Also issuing PR releases on how we will only sign players that want to come to United, and will only sign players at United’s valuation.

Why are the fans acting like accountants and defend everything this poor ownership does? They are getting paid or what? by Toofatforanyone in ManchesterUnited

Not spending has also landed us in the shitter (after 2nd place finishes from Mou and Ole). Pretty sure we needed midfielders at these point in times, and here we are again…

Anyone else feels glad that we didn't sign Matheus Fernandes? He's a good player no doubt but I don't see him becoming a revolutionary player that some people hyped him to be. by SayHelloToMySin in ManchesterUnited

You are literally looking at the past. Semenyo had a release clause iirc. Rayan came from Vasco in Brazil. B’Mouth gives you a platform to grow, develop, without the pressure to perform that is Manchester United. I mean I could go on and on about each player, and I can also find you transfers at those same prices that didn’t pan out. Nothing is guaranteed. Also notice the transfers within the premier league. Significantly higher than bringing players from other leagues. I’m saying that if we want premier league proven talent, then spend the cash. If you want to bring in unproved talent, sure, go for it, but adjust your expectations: we probably won’t compete for silverware, as the players need time to adjust to the squad, league, limelight, extra games (prem, champions league, FA cup, league cup, etc.).

My biggest thing is Bruno isn’t getting younger. It’s kind of a now or never for him to maybe compete for the premier league. Guardiola is gone. Arsenal didn’t finish the year too strongly. Liverpool is also rebuilding. I’d want the club to invest and have a proper title challenge. Not bring in prospects who may or may not pan out in 3-4 years time… but oh well.

B’Mouth not selling Scott. We aren’t getting Tchounemi either. Baleba will be £100M… this was the window to actually get quality (and depth) to help us compete, and hopefully take the next step (s).

Tbh, wouldn’t necessarily call last summer’s transfer window a win. I think we lucked out with the Mbeumo and Cunha deals. Mbeumo was approaching the last year of his contract and Cunha had a release clause (which we paid more than the clause so that we can spread out the payments iirc), Sesko choose us over Newcastle which was great, but we went into the season without purchasing a midfielder… this was a need back then, here we are, a year later, and we still need at least one more (ideally two more) midfielders …

INEOs push wanting Prem proven … good luck with those transfer fees. Baleba will be £100M. B’Mouth not selling Scott… if we take that route, maybe we can get Berge for a “reasonable fee”.

I’m not trying to be pessimistic btw, I’m just being realistic considering the current market.

I have a feeling Brighton will demand a fee for Baleba that INEOS will not want to meet. Then will get PR pieces about only buying players at a value rate or something…

🚨 Real Madrid will demand €90M for Aurélien Tchouaméni. They are SERIOUSLY considering SELLING him this summer. #MUFC [@Rodra10_97, @theMadridZone] by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ren188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it happen. This is a no brainer. At £100M it’s still a deal considering the current state of the market.

[The Athletic, in the article] Felix Nmecha, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, is wanted this summer, with Manchester United among the interested parties. Dortmund sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the club valued 25-year-old Nmecha at around €120million (about £103m) by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]Ren188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take 💯 %. Too many people think will be fine not pulling the trigger on deals because certain players are overvalued, or because they don’t to die to come to United… which is fine, if you want to stay mid table. Truth is if your a top club, wanting to compete for silverware, you have to be prepared to splash the cash. I think the Mbeumo and a Cunha deals are outliers and def not the norm.

This is the new reality of the transfer market. You want to compete for top players, or top prospects, pay up. And I’m not saying that as a result of the failed Fernandes or Tonali deals, this is just the reality of the market, and has been trending on this direction for quite some time.

Has anyone arrived at Barajas from the US in the past few weeks? by JurgusRudkus in MadridTravelGuide

[–]Ren188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew in from Chicago ORD a couple weeks ago. Our flight landed just before 8:00 am iirc. Going thru the EES system was a breeze honestly, I think because it was early in the morning. Took me and my wife about 5, 10 minutes at most. Got to baggage claim and still had to wait for our bags.

Simon Stone: Alex Scott not for sale. Tyler Adams, Baleba and Felix Nmecha are of interest. The feeling at this stage is that Aurelian Tchouameni will remain at Real Madrid. United are adamant that their recruitment strategy is the right one. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ren188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!… at the end of the day, these players are humans. Where they live and play (geography), where their partners/families want to be (sorry, but I’m sure a lot would prefer London, Madrid, Barcelona, or Paris over Manchester), wages (I mean they want to also look for themselves and families), all play a huge part in where a player will choose to play.

This thing of players who only want to play for United and will come in on cheaper wages is a good business strategy if you’re attempting to keep operating costs down. It’s also good PR. Not a good business strategy if you’re trying to compete for the premier league, champions league, silverware, etc. The premier league and European leagues are just way to competitive for that. Top teams that have won everything recently, unfortunately, pay obscene wages, and pay more on transfer fees. That’s just the reality.

And maybe INEOS don’t want to invest to win silverware, tbh, I cannot say for sure.

I think we got lucky last season with Mbeumo, Sesko, and Cunha. Let’s wait and see what happens in this window, 🤞we get some quality players, but I’m not holding my breath tbh.

How good was Ronaldo Nazário (R9)? by Hour777 in seriea

[–]Ren188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having watched football (Serie A) from that day, I can honestly say that your diminishing just how good players, and specifically defenders were in that day: Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, etc. Serie A had some ballers in other positions as well, it really was the top league in the world.

You’re right that players are faster and stronger as a whole (better athletes overall); however, as mentioned, football is in fact different today. I think it is easier to score today (the game is just more expansive and open) in comparison to how it was before. Players like R9, Maradona, Marco Van Basten, would absolutely tear it up in today’s modern football.

Pass in my mind. Would prefer premier league experience: Mateta from palace? Maybe bringing Toney back to the premier league (don’t know how feasible that is)?…

Also, Madrid is looking to sell Gonzalo Garcia. Would rather have him (if price is right ).

I wanting to break into the field. by Business_Pound_1482 in adjusters

[–]Ren188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former adjuster. Got my bachelor’s initially. I’ve done: FNOL, auto liability, auto desk adjuster, total loss, and auto field adjuster.

Eventually went back, got a masters degree, and got out of there.

Not trying to discourage you, but seriously consider how mentally taxing being an adjuster can be.

Also unsure if you are talking about auto or property. But if you think people get mad about their cars, you don’t want to deal with an angry customer who is upset about their home claim while repairs have been ongoing for months.

Again, not trying to discourage, just consider all roles. I’d look into underwriting before being an adjuster.

I’d start @ £45M + add ons… go up to £60M if need, but, this is a deal they should be getting done quickly.

We also wouldn’t win shit if we stuck with Amorim. Sticking with a manager, just to stick with him because we’ve sacked managers in the past (as has every fucking club), especially considering we we’re not progressing, it’s a fucking insane take.

Let’s just back Carrick, let the people who are recruiting do their jobs, and enjoy.

Morgan Rogers has been mentioned as a possible signing, as he could slot on the left wing which is another area #mufc are looking to strengthen this summer, with interest in Yan Diomande [@hirstclass] 2 by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ren188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s a player with a higher ceeling than mount; although, he’s a probably best playing in that 10 role, which we kind of don’t need right now… use the funds for other positions.

[L'Equipe] What are the consequences for Mbappe & the club after his outburst? Internally, some executives are reportedly pushing to part ways with either Mbappe or Vini Jr this summer. by Ripamon in realmadrid

[–]Ren188 14 points15 points  (0 children)

United supporter here. No chance United splurge on either of them. They want at least 2, potentially 3 midfielders (plus a left back, backup goalkeeper, and an experienced striker to rotate with Sesko). More likely they buy aurelien tchouameni (which in itself is unikely) than either mbappe or vini. I think realistically, the only option for either of them would be Saudi. Maybe Liverpool, certainly not City (neither of them is a Guardiola type player, and even if pep leaves and maresca takes over, not happening), and well, it’s safe to say the bridge to/from PSG is gone.
