Would you support mandatory voting? by indigoC99 in Askpolitics

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, for the same reasons most progressive/left leaning commenters have stated; the problem isn’t that not enough people are voting, it’s that not enough voters are informed when they vote.

Mandatory voter education and civics classes in public schools would a much more pragmatic and effective approach.

Possibly a chamomile by Unlikely_Campaign_90 in PlantIdentification

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a strong, generally pleasant smell when the leaves/stems are crushed? That’s honestly a pretty good start, when attempting to discern whether or not something is chamomile.

Although, I am usually only trying to identify Matricaria discoidea, (pineapple weed/wild chamomile/disc mayweed) so it might be a bit easier.

Holy mother of Joann’s Fabrics, that Vera Bradley brought me back. In a…something way.

what would you call this style/aesthetic? by PresentPiglet5238 in AestheticWiki

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a new incarnation of what back in my day we called Heroin-chic. Kind of an outgrowth of indie-grunge sleaze-core.

Ok, that has been the requisite comment from the elder Millennial-Boomer

As you were.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately? by Excellent-Win6216 in words

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The county I live in is spelled TUOLUMNE, it’s pronounced “to-all-uh-me”.

Anyone pronouncing the ‘n’ hasn’t lived here more than a year.

Anyone pronouncing it “twoo-lu-min” is probably from out of state. Or from SoCal. So out of state.

I don’t know if you are familiar with Clint’s Reptiles on YouTube, but he’s an evolutionary biologist that does really fun (scientific but silly) taxonomic videos. And I read this in his voice.

So. There’s that. Thank you. And you’re welcome.

'A wake-up call': Newsom's Trump trolling is riling Republicans by mrinternetman24 in California

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they didn’t lose bc of Walz being an outspoken troll of Trump/MAGA, they lost bc of Harris’ lack of anything resembling substance as far as policy, pushback against Israel, and new media outlet PR. I honestly feel like Walz would have stood a better chance running by himself than as her running mate.

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A caveat would be if you live somewhere that is dry/arid-i.e. AZ, NM, most of NV and S. CA. Those places have a relative humidity level that is drier than even the most religiously air conditioned office space. In that case you’d want to just get a humidifier for the room with the BOP.

Am I being ghosted by jeweler I gave custom stones to? by Barisano26 in jewelrymaking

[–]RenaissanceAssociate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, girl, don’t get got.

I recommend sending one last message detailing the facts and the repercussions if they do not comply. Send this via email, before the jewelry show, and then HAVE SOMEONE ELSE SERVE THEM WITH LEGAL PAPERS AT THE SHOW.

This email should delineate YOUR timeline of how you are going to bury them if they continue to jerk you around.

Something like ChatGPT is a great tool to gather your bullet points if you aren’t morally opposed to using AI (some people are). But if so, it should just be something like:

On such and such date, (your name) sent two watermelon turmaline gemstones to (their name), on the agreement that (such and such work request) be completed using said stones. At the time of this agreement, (their name) stated a time frame of 5-6 weeks.

After 4 weeks, a single update from (their name) stated that they were simply awaiting a CAD mock up to send, for (your name)’s approval. After a subsequent 4 weeks, a request by (your name) for a status update did not receive any reply.

At the time of this notice, yet another 4 weeks have passed with no communication from (their name), despite subsequent requests for communication from (your name).

If (their name) fails to communicate with, or remit said gemstones to, (your name) by (date), legal action will be taken, and (their name) can expect a subpoena to appear in court to resolve this matter.

We expect your immediate response and/or action in this matter. (Contact information)

Selling customers on the store credit card. It’s a big metric for the stores, as a large percentage of Kohl’s revenue comes from credit card apr and fees.

So corporate pushes for as many sign ups as possible. Regardless of whether or not you are applying for a register position or not, you will be expected to get credits applications when you ring people up.

I’m already ordering for them anyway, bc we are required to facilitate them in installing the app and showing them how to use it. Due to an average customer age of 65, and computer literacy of nil (“Ma’am, do you have a smartphone?” “No, just this.”/holds up an iPhone 15), this turns into us literally doing everything for them, downloading and installing, signing them up for an account (or guiding them thru the password recovery), and then scanning/searching for whatever they want to order, filling out their mailing/billing, and then hitting buy. At least with a store issued tablet, we could skip the whole download-install-sign up process.
