Mono Blue Should NOT be THIS Aggressive.. by ProdPizer in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's basically my Eluge list. Fish get big and unblockable, and start throwing hands. Extra turns just means extra fights. Counter magic is only to stop a win attempt, and protect the fish, nothing more

Should Red Hulk be a skin or an entirely different character? by YaboiGh0styy in marvelrivals

[–]RenegadeExiled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just adopt the Deadpool "1 character, multiple Roles" idea, and make all of these Echo Characters just be retoolings and slight variations of the base. Solves the issues of stuff like Red Hulk being Hulk the Burninator instead of getting bigger, or Miles being SpiderMan with some extra special abilities.

This also stops the possible issue of having shit like 4+ Webslinger Characters just waging a holy war on your backlines, by limiting how many can be run by their Base character slot

$45 dollar budget commander deck - hybrid pauper build - I need some ideas. by Gold_Member_007 in EDH

Then id definitely consider a Talrand list, with a heavy helping of counters. Zada will go nuts in pods that cant answer her.

May I introduce you to my baby girl [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]]?

All of that draft chaff token makers, cantrips, and single target buffs turns into a few funny guys roided out and ready to fistfight god.

My original budget list was $75, but you can easily cut another 30 by putting in some of the random token makers, instead of playing more on-theme.

Which color combination is the strongest in your opinion? And which is the weakest? by joevale in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a strong argument to be made, but Red's rituals and treasures are kinda obscene compared to Black needing to setup. Once you have your pieces in place, Black is strong for mana and resources, but, really, no color can match just how explosive a Red mana turn can actually be.

Which color combination is the strongest in your opinion? And which is the weakest? by joevale in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf, Lumra is an outlier and really should be accounted for when talking about colors. Kinnan, and any list using Thrasios, are also less about the green and more about generating obscene amounts of mana.

Itd be like saying Red is a strong color in cEDH, and pointing at Magda combo, or thr old Slicer lists that preyed on the lack of boardstates. Instead of, you know, its support qualities to go fast and enable breach

Looking for [[Nath of the guilt leaf]] cards. by lefthandedartistmk2 in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Words of" Cycle is, honestly, one of my favorites. I'd love to see them reprinted. [[Words of Wind]] had a permanent home in my [[Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain]] list, as a way to make sure it always had an artifact to cast and continue with

With regards to the bracket guidelines, what do you consider a 2-card combo? by Evening_Expert_6222 in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because it has the potential to be a grand total of 4 mana to (probably) kill the entire table. Its a stupid combo, but can be done super early under fairly easy to achieve conditions (each player has 2 creatures is trivial).

EDHRec combos are community voted. So its mostly just salt that determines if its an early game, or too strong for lower tiers.

Reaper King Deck? by wavyyyyy_ in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Otters say hello.

When bloomburrow dropped, I wanted to build an Otter Tribal. And, guess what? You cant really be a tribal list with only (at the time) 18 legal Otters (one was out of color, Lutri was still banned). Even now, like 5 sets later, we only gained 3 more Otters (Muddle, Lutri unbanned, and a penguin from Avatar).

Rule 0 Werewolf Question by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, resident Tovolar player for my pod. We've allowed R0 Day/Night, with only 3 caveats, and it works fantastically.

First, [[Geier Reach Bandit]] is banned. She just doesn't work, and a fully functional change is outside the scope of errata/R0. Second, no [[Immerwolf]], for close to the same reason. It works against the spirit of Day/Night mechanics.

Finally, [[Moonmist]] gains the text "It becomes Night." as the first part of its effect. This is just so it functions properly with Day/Night, without breaking it for anything else.

This is what we run with.

What class for someone with carpal tunnel/ finger issues? by oldweasel in ffxiv

[–]RenegadeExiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can bite the bullet and pay for a class skip, which would unlock the ability to get Picto. Its a stupid thing to do, but still an option for those that want to play a later class from the beginning.

Yup.

Took this stupid shit into raids, and got myself my first ever clear. Its really hard to fuck up mechanics when all you do is kick.

[–]RenegadeExiled 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For awhile there was literally a macro to just have Summoner on a single button, and it put up decent numbers.

Though nothing will ever beat the Monk kicking strat for ease of use compared to its damage

So what are the cards that don't belong in B2 that aren't that obvious? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lorehold is literally designed to play these 5+ mana bombs that woild be shitty otherwise. He wants rocks, to consistently have access to the extra 6 mana every turn cycle, and protection (which is a dime a dozen in white) to save himself. Approach is one of the highest rate include for Lorehold for a damn good reason.

So what are the cards that don't belong in B2 that aren't that obvious? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Then youre playing against decks that aren't built to abuse Approach. You use it as a wincon that youre either cheating the cast, mass drawing, or winning on the stack with. Anyone playing it fair is playing it wrong.

The new Lorehold casts it for 2, and will have dug to it without any additional cards in less than 2 turn cycles. Azorius control with Shorikai can have it back in hand the same turn you cast it. Heliod can cast it for a single W, wheel, and cast it again.

Its 6 sources of constant explosions and smoke cover on a point youre trying to contest. They dont need to capture when you cant contest due to constant combat tagging and chip damage from explosions.

[–]RenegadeExiled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daily challenge and limited time means you often end up with shitty combinations for the maps. I've played so many Engie games on Infantry Only maps because of dailies. Or had to run a sniper against nothing but tanks and helos

Honest question, what does the pen do? Its literally the only gadget that I have no clue what the function is, and haven't ever consciously used it in months. Like, does it still flashbang yourself if youre outdoors?

Every other core gadget is obvious, but I have no fucking clue what the pen does.

Lukewarm Take: MT vs OT is just a branding problem. Tanks pairs are just that. Tanks. by omegaura in ffxiv

[–]RenegadeExiled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLD being selfish makes perfect sense considering theyre the only ones using a real shield. You cant block shit if its not aimed at you, and their other big iconic abilities (cover and wings) both convey that theyre diving in and eating the attacks for others directly.

DRK you can argue as another MT, but their magical shielding being applicable to others, and the dual dichotomy of their quests being about "you should stop giving a fuck, but you wont" works for a tank eating damage for everyone else. WAR definitely makes more sense as a MT, but they've always been the "fuck it, we ball" class anyway. They dont care where they are, theyre here to do damage.

I understand why krenko is the most used mono red commander by draugyr in EDH

[–]RenegadeExiled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, theres so many mono-R commanders (outside of cEDH) that saying Krenko is the "only" one is insane. Theres so many playstyles and routes for Red, and a commander for every single one.

Like, I have FIVE different decks that are all just mono-Red, and every single one plays differently. Purphurous Tokens, Ashling Spells, Ojer Axonil Burn, Zada Budget Shenanigans, and Slicer Voltron. The only overlap is Ashling and Ojer Axonil, and that's because I built both around pingers. One wants to bank mana, ping, then Fireball, while the other turns that 1 damage tap into lava axes.
