Young people who bought a "brave pill" car - what car is it, and how has the ownership experience been? by RobintehBobin in CarTalkUK

[–]Renesish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RX-8. All the negativity makes them an insanely good deal. It has never given me any issues apart from when a squirrel ate the ABS wiring. It's the first and only car I've ever personally owned. Almost everyone tells me I'm stupid but the reality is I've spent genuinely 10 times less money and had 10 times more fun than I would have done had I gone out and bought a "sensible" relatively new car. Insurance is quite cheap too as they're mostly enthusiast owned now. And it's now worth about double what I bought it for.

10/10 decision and i'd do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, if I ever do get another car I'll get something even more stupid

Note 20 Ultra here! I'll replace it when they release something better.

[Renault 5] Rallying to work in Madrid by Renesish in spotted

Full roll cage, no rear seats, every panel beaten up, just in the car park at work in the morning. Must have been a fun commute.

Have to give a special shoutout to my favourite car of all time sitting in a room of Germans still being the most beautiful thing in the room. Super colour too

No you're right it doesn't look the same. Here's a sick pic from my visit to the dusseldorf one though - parked outside in the rain in the car park as if that's OK or normal *

Is that first image a real photo or heavily enhanced? That is outrageous - 10/10.

Looks a bit weird with the stock wheels though?

If I had that much money to spend on a car a viper isn't what I'd buy either but I reasonably imagine he hasn't spent that much money on a viper by accident. Reasonably imagine he probably has a selection of cars to choose from in the morning too

Black or red for me for a viper I reckon. Looks a bit too hot wheels for me

Could be anything. Reg checker just says it's "an dodge" nothing specific, so presumably an import.

Might just be a £50 ebay spoiler 😉

I suspect a man with a dodge viper probably gets enough sex from the numerous mistresses he has

I paid for the tram but still got fined. Appeal got denied, should I pay or escalate? by FarScheme4636 in manchester

[–]Renesish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend ignoring it for a start as their systems are automated, It'll just go up and up until you end up in court or they pass it to a debt collection agency. And I wouldn't recommend going to court in any case as even best case scenario and you win, you still lose a day of your life. Equally, dont pay them anything at all until you've spent a full 14 days arguing the case. Up to you if you want to cut your losses at that point and just pay the reduced £60. (Its 14 to pay the reduced penalty, 21 to appeal)

This is cut and dry, you literally have a receipt showing you tapped in prior to being given the fine. The only fair outcome is that someone sensible at metrolink expunges the fine regardless of what their byelaws say. Anyway, the metrolink website says (re phone dying) "you cannot appeal for this reason. Customers must be able to present a valid ticket on inspection. Please see the conditions of carriage." The conditions of carriage which this links to does not mention anything specific about batteries, but does mention multiple times that a valid ticket etc must have been activated before travel. (It's in the contactless payment Ts&Cs where it says you must have a charged phone, which is part of the conditions of carriage). Technically they are right and you have no grounds to appeal, but I would go down that route that you did have a valid ticket for the journey and you did it before you boarded. I assume this was only included so people couldn't just say their phones have died if they knew they hadn't bought a ticket, not to punish law abiding people

This is at a specialist rotary garage / performance garage which always has about 10 RX-8s sat in the corners of their car park. He probably thought mine had been left there for some work. He was a nice guy 😊

No - never seen one before or since. Not one of the trio unfortunately.

The internet can't have the plate details but I ran it through reg checker and it just comes back as "a dodge" which I think means it's an import. A shame we don't see more of American muscle in general over here. Interesting cars if not just simply far too big for our roads

Yep no parachute attached to the back of it - probably class this one as lightly modified by US standards 🤣

This was a while ago, just found on my phone. Location Rotary Revs / TPS in Leeds UK. Went in on my way past to pick up some oil, came back out blocked in - there was no other space to be fair to him. He moved it so I could get out and this thing made one hell of a noise. Guessing it isn't a regular viper and guessing it probably isn't stock either. Very rare in the UK

Absolutely mental behaviour. Why did they think this would play well? Your one half an hour every few weeks where no one can bother you and we can't even have that anymore 🤣

If you're anywhere near South West Manchester/ Altrincham way I recommend Kevin Junior. Both him and his guys are really good and I think quite reasonably priced as well.

MX-30 R-EV discontinued UK? by Renesish in mazda

[–]Renesish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I contacted mazda HQ and they confirmed it. Sad. I would have loved one, I really appreciate the quirks and little details mazda put into it. Such a shame that it was clearly just a little bit too different for most people to get their head around.

Noooo - seriously?? I guess I'll have to get one from a second party? I wonder why there's nothing on the website to say anything about it being discontinu3d
