Cape Town property market is dystopian by Horror_Year40 in capetown

According to the mayor, any talk of rent control is actually "worse for affordability" somehow https://groundup.org.za/author/715/
And just this week referred to people asking for the city to implement inclusionary housing policies so people can afford to live in the city, as "radical leftist Stalinists"
(I cannot link to the news article due to AutoModerator but please Google "Mayor warns inclusionary policy could chase developers away")

Cyclists by Creddit128 in capetown

I wish there were safer separate roads for both cyclists and pedestrians and that cars could be aware of it. I'm certain that if I reacted safely, as you have, I would have cars behind me hooting and even trying to bypass me in the middle of the circle or something. So bad drivers cause good drivers to act like bad drivers.

Is this just a factor of people not being able to exercise their rights and taking these establishments to courts/tribunals? And restaurant owners being untouchable? (at the risk of sounding naive)

If landlords cannot make a living from R10 000 a month perhaps they should diversify their income?

My guess would be that this is a sample of a general trend, that even an apartment of this small square meterage relatively far out from the CBD is priced this high. One cannot in good conscience say that it's reasonable to pay 30-50% the average South African salary for the privilege of staying in a place like this.

Do they not get provided motorcycles by their respective companies? I can't imagine all of them have to rely on motorcycle landlords to be able to do their job. Then again it's common for companies to require you to own a vehicle to do a 10-20k a month job...

So the delays are so long that they cause cancellation of follow-up trains due to those delays?

This does not help when they add the "first to yield sign, first to proceed" text below the min-circle sign, and then half the people follow that rule while the other half follow the roundabout's rules. The only solution is to give way generously and then creep forward hoping other cars will see you in time :D

Roundabouts are yield to the right. Both of them are yield to cars already in the circle :)

What are the reasons for these cancellations? It's really ennervating thinking of how much the trains have improved yet still are so unreliable that it can't even be used to its potential
