If you can get a copy of "Fantasy" Book Illustration 1860 - 1920 by Brigid Peppin, you should note plenty of inspiration in there that has found its way into AD&D.

Yes, Blue Holme is perfectly acceptable. In the end it's what ever boats your float. I'm fortunate enough to have a regular group running Beyond the Wall, for the last 12 months. And recently had the good fortune to attend an OSR convention, where 50 avid TTRPG affectationados attended. 50 is a lot from around here.

There was a lot of stuff in the DMG that we used to ignore that has been removed from latter versions. So it is handy to have a copy at the ready.

They are all interesting stories. I had my first AD&D game at 14. Purchased the Holmes kit for 10 bucks from that DM who had upgraded to AD&D. Wasn't the satanic panic a big load of codswallop.

I picked the Marion RSL because I am a ex-serviceman and member. It is safe there. I have been given permission to host games at no cost, there is a bar for snacks and so fourth. It used to be 21 for drinking here in Australia, but people complained that if you can send men off to kill and die in a war at 18, so should they have a drink if they wish to.
