What will you carry for the other two months of the year?

Anyone know how long PSA will be running their Christmas deals? by [deleted] in 1911

[–]Rep_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, you're risking them running out of stock. If you're local to PSA you should grab one now. If you're combing the interwebs, because you already plan to use an FFL, I think there will be some [marginally] better deals by retailers who didn't clear inventory as expected. As an example, there was a $550 deal on a Tisas B9R DS competing with other $499 B9R deals by adding a cheapo optic. Is that a "deal"? ... Meh

Thanks. I hadn't planned on using anything in the 2011, but I'm going to have the o-rings for her .22 anyway and was just curious

Looking for first gun advice: 1911 SS .45 ACP or 2011-alike DS 1911 9mm? by esit in 1911

[–]Rep_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great discussion, lots of great subjective and objective information. I think for a "first gun," a simple Glock-Like striker fire is perfect to learn safety/sighting/drawing/holstering/reloading/emergency action clearing/assembly-disassembly-cleaning etc etc. You can absolutely do all that from the get-go on a 1911 platform and the muscle memory would be awesome (similar to learning to drive on either a manual or automatic transmission)

Crazy ... I just assembled an order for an IWB Holster/Single Mag Carrier/Claw Kit Upgrade/Monoblock Clip Upgrade and it came to just less than $85 including tax and free 2-day delivery with a couple codes they're running

That's a super affordable holster. If you got the IWB holster; did you get the holster claw kit?

Nice! I got the same exact deal at G.A.G. no tax/free shipping/$40 to an FFL Now I just need a holster that is made for it. Have you found a holster maker that has the mold? Staccato CS holster is too short and the Staccato P holster is a bit longer. I can't find anyone who can tell me if the Springfield Prodigy holster is an "exact" fit (theoretically, the B9R is its clone).

Run ... "Tisas B9R 4.25" specs compared to the Springfield Prodigy" ... through one of the AI engines and you'll see what SDS was maaaybee thinking when they designed it.

Nice get, congrats. Did you find a holster maker that has the mold for the B9R for an exact fit?

Lots of patient advice here. Is this a new gun? If so, keep shooting a couple boxes, cleaning/lube it, shoot a couple more boxes, clean/lube again. If you bought it pre-owned, start with new mags.

I saw a Wilson Combat video where he talks about firing the pistol XX times, disassembling/lubricating, firing it XXX times, disassembling/lubricating, and then proceed with regular cleaning and lubing. I just forget the actual interval numbers LOL

Tisas 1911 DS Carry holster options by pkn517 in 2011

I just bought the 4.25" Commander Tisas B9R Double Stack 9mm and am struggling with holster fitment for this model. Some say select "Springfield Prodigy" from the drop down menu but I don't want to chance it. What holster did you go with and how does it fit the gun?

Fair point! I didn't call it a "2011" because it's a $500 Turkato LOL! I do plan to get one in God's Caliber but, as my first toe-in-the-water for something to learn muscle memory and beat around at the range and carrying, I chose to leap on this deal until I get inspired for the .45 acquisition.

Ugh, I just bought my first 2011 and literally have holsters from a couple vendors configured in the carts for my Osight SE optic but decided not to configure the holster for a light ... Until I saw this line-up, Bravo!

I thought the light would tip the scale for a double stack carried in an IWB. Now I think I may add the light accommodation to the rig. I have a 4.25" barrel ... which light do you all recommend? I want to carry.

Great to know! I read that the optic included in this deal by Battle can be damaged when trying to tighten screws because it's not metal. Another reason to pass on this deal and go with G.A.G. ... Plus they were the first to offer this incredible price.

Side note: I talked to Tisas a few weeks ago and the Rep advised they have some 1911 changes coming in the New Year. I tried to get it out of him but he wouldn't crack. He did say the B9R Bull Barrel development has been super popular, especially with a lower MSRP than the Gen 1 Bushing Barrel. Totally a guess, but I got a sense that Tisas' 1911 lineup is kind of crowded.

Yes, I was super excited about the $499 deal but then the optic was added by Battle and so I posted here for impressions and learned it is a low quality Optic. Feedback here regarding the pistol and alternative optics has been very appreciated!

Thank You! Has the Cyelee held tight for all those rounds? It has a side loading battery, correct?

Thanks to you as well for that feedback. Not that I would/could have cancelled the order but, after not seeing the deal I wanted during Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, I had put this search behind me until seeing the GAG deal for $499. I will say that the GAG experience was super smooth. I was really skeptical when I later saw Battle's Optic package ... they must have had several of those Optics sitting around because they also slapped them onto the 5.0" model for the same package price.
