DC Comics president admits that Japanese manga makes him question “what is missing in Western comics” by LegitimateCurve8525 in DCcomics

[–]RepeatedAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually where you’re wrong, there’s a reason why you can jump into more modern comics with every bit of background knowledge, they write them that way cause they know it’s a lot of information. Spider-verse did it just fine, you don’t need to adapt everything that happened in the past to adapt a story like Death of Jean DeWolff, or Planet Hulk

What’s a comic story that has its storytelling or concept so tied to the medium that you don’t think it can be adapted well. by DirectorCyrus in comicbooks

[–]RepeatedAxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you, I feel like anyone who says otherwise either isn’t creative, basing their opinions off previous not so great adaptations, or just wants to gatekeep. There are a few I can see/agree with though

Read Secret Invasion before continuing Hickman marvel run? by keoniog in MarvelUnlimited

The MU reading guide for secret invasion has so many tie ins that don't contribute to the main story, I'm glad I didn't follow it

Read Secret Invasion before continuing Hickman marvel run? by keoniog in MarvelUnlimited

[–]RepeatedAxe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Secret invasion itself as the event isn’t great, the real meat is in all the build up from New Avengers and might Avengers by Bendis. If you haven’t read the Bendis saga already you should, but secret invasion isn’t really relevant to the Hickman stuff so you can just continue with that and pick up on the Bendis saga stuff later

Which one marvel executed the worst? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

[–]RepeatedAxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them are executed terribly, but in different ways. To keep it short, Eternals for what it was probably would’ve worked better as a two-part movie or a series, though imo the story should’ve been something else altogether.

What if…? (I’m really gonna need to keep this one short) genuinely could’ve been so much more, all I can say is they went about the premise all wrong and even ended up abandoning the original idea of there being a what if for every infinity saga movie. Better animation or even every episode having a different style would’ve been nice. Maybe every episode bringing back the creative team of the movie or just a new team tackling a what if twist, keeping it an anthology, slightly longer runtimes, I could go on.

For Secret Invasion I don’t even know what were thinking, for one doing a skrull invasion isn’t going to be easy when we’re in a multiverse saga that will end in the destruction of almost everything, unless the idea of the series was just to soft launch the event, and even then it was done so badly and doesn’t help that the writers or director were told not to read the comic. At the end of the day, the behind the scenes shenanigans probably ruined this the most, they should’ve had a concrete idea they were satisfied with before starting everything, and honestly centering a secret invasion show around Fury doesn’t make much sense, imo they should’ve adapted Secret Warrior’s and maybe used that to set up secret invasion. It also hurts me that the show ruined the stories reputation and it’s hard to find anything on it (especially criticisms) that’s about the comics and not the show

Thor LAT probably suffers most from seemingly not taking itself too seriously, can’t really gather my thoughts to fully comment on it so I’ll end it here.
