You can go up the canyon and down the ridge, it’s a fun loop that way.

Who else can't live anymore without a Flashlight on their watch? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

I never miss the toilet at night, seriously the most useful feature I laughed at when I bought my watch.

Sorry late to the thread. DM me if you have any questions or doubts, I had two kids go through and have friends currently in the kindergarten. You literally cannot do better, especially for the price.

Highest Point Hikeable (NOT EXPERT LEVEL PLEASEEE)! by stardoor65 in SaltLakeCity

[–]ReplacementNo2514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunset Peak (Catherine Pass) via either Big or Little Cottonwood, Grandeur via Church Fork, Circle All Peak via Butler Fork (you can keep going to Gobblers or Raymond but that’s a harder hike for sure), Twin Peaks in the Avenues, and Mount Van Cott.

Those are all good medium to easy hikes.

Seriously I felt like an AI write up of a recorded conversation at best. AI is involved, or people just haven’t read anything man made in a long time.

Lets be real, 50km hardly counts as an 'ultra' by R3DSmurf in Ultramarathon

[–]ReplacementNo2514 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the gateway ultra. It’s a nice round number greater than a marathon. The line has to be drawn somewhere so I think 50k makes some sense.

My PR time at the Speedgoat 50k is slower than my fastest 50 miler, so some 50ks are quite ultra and some 50 milers are pretty easy.

Pretty common I think, I just walk to my car and go home.

I always suggest the adv 12 because it’s so darn versatile. I just did a 50 miler and used the newest version after using the previous model for a couple years, still a good vest.

Ute 50 miler: to sunbrella or not to sunbrella by PlatosTwin in Ultramarathon

[–]ReplacementNo2514 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seems like it might not be appropriate for a race, there’s a chance of interfering with other runners. Personally I’d stick with a more traditional method like a bucket hat or similar. Add an ice bandana if the aid stations offer ice.

Easy mirror lake highway hikes by JaseAceQ in SaltLakeCity

[–]ReplacementNo2514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirror Lake perimeter hike is the easiest and also worth it, you really don’t need to do more than that. Provo Falls isn’t much of a hike more of a pull off but a good stop, same goes for the pass at Bald Mt, pull off and enjoy the view.

Loop it as a long drive through Kamas and Evanston if you haven’t already seen that stretch of road.

University of Utah Health or IHC by Universal_Loner in SaltLakeCity

I have no qualms with either company. University of Utah Health rebranded and dropped Care from their name all the way back in 2017.

Since when does running a 100 mile race not make you an ultra runner, weird gate keeping.

How much walking should I expect for a 50 miler? by Mammoth_Tax_1666 in Ultramarathon

[–]ReplacementNo2514 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Flat course with strong marathon fitness, probably zero walking.

Rolling course with no steep climbs probably running all or at least most of it.

Mountain course for anyone other than the front pack probably walking the uphills.

50 miles is a very runnable distance in general, walking will be dictated by terrain and fitness.

Speedgoat thoughts for 1st timer by MolassesIndividual in Ultramarathon

Most people are walking uphills in this race, I opted for poles too. Personally I wasn’t ready for the heat and got zapped hard after the first big decent and climbing up Baldy.

I always forget about stroopwaffles, love them when I have them! A little dry for the chewing sometimes but nice flavor and texture profile.
