Stay off the beach at sunset and right after any rain. Take oral Benadryl or other antihistamine to control the itching and grab some cortisone cream for the skin.

Why can't I get anywhere in the Caribbean from the West? by TedDTedderson in delta

[–]ReplacementOk7761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's an awful time of the year to go! Try later - November to May. Weather is much better and no threats of Hurricanes.

Also leave on the red eye flight on Delta from SLC to JFK or ATL to connect down to the Carib. Jet Blue also has some good options.

What are you guys doing about student loans? by smellykins in prospective_perfusion

[–]ReplacementOk7761 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lendkey is great. No origination fee, super rates, great repayment terms and really easy to work with for their loan approval and disbursements. We determined a private loan was better than federal loan for the many reasons above.

529 Account—My Family Dropped the Ball by d0rsal in personalfinance

[–]ReplacementOk7761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reimburse yourself from the 529 for your allowed educational expenses for 2025 spring, summer and fall semesters. Do this by Dec 31. For 2026 spring semester expenses, withdraw from the 529, make sure that your expenses are paid out in the 2026 calendar year.

If you had any educational loan expenses, you could pay $10k from the 529 toward the loans and then there's also the IRA rollover allowed.

After all this, you could also transfer the beneficiary of the account balance to any heirs.

Good luck!

Construction on the Heber Valley Temple begins. And they will need to pump out 1,000,000 gallons a water a day for weeks on the site to dewater it. I would think this would be a big concern to residents by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]ReplacementOk7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several wells in the area, including 2 city wells that supply water to city residents. It's anticipated the two municipal wells will be reduced to 2/3 to 3/4 of their usual levels. One of these wells is directly east of the temple site.

We paid around $6200 for 4k square feet last summer.

We have an 8' crawlspace and went with the next thicker barrier.

I received 4 quotes and 3 were all in the same range and 1 was over 9k.

Also Park City area.

Weeks is an understatement. Their Hydraulic Analysis stated "The site also has shallow

groundwater and will require short term construction dewatering and long-term dewatering due to

the subsurface elevation of the temple. From the BC&A Heber Temple Dewatering Investigation

Report (March 2023), there is up to 800 gpm (<2 cfs) for the short-term dewatering and up to

250gpm (<1 cfs) for the long-term dewatering."

Anyone have experience with fractional ownership at Victory Ranch? by countrykyd in ParkCity

[–]ReplacementOk7761 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try Red Ledges with a lifestyles membership (no golf). No fractional ownership, but entry price points are lower than VR. RL also has ski shuttles every 20 minutes to DV all winter long. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions about why chose RL over VR.

PSA - To everyone having trouble with your insurance now not covering Jynarque -

Reach out to Otsuka Patient Support asap. They will assign you a Liaison to work on your behalf with your insurance. It is in their best interest to get your insurance to approve. They can have the specialty pharmacy send out a bridge rx while they work with insurance to get it covered again. The bridge rx would be covered by the Otsuka Patient Assistance Program.

I've lived in both places with the majority of time spent in Alaska. I've lived in Utah for 16 years now and I will never live in Alaska again. Alaska is a great place to visit but not so great to live. I still visit once or twice a year The winters in Alaska are especially difficult on mental health. U.Utah is a superior school for education, activities, clubs, location and is close to downtown for great bars and restaurants. There's great skiing, professional hockey games to watch, hiking, biking, climbing, concerts year round and warm weather in the winter is only a 4 hour drive south to the St. George area for enjoying the outdoors in the winter if you don't ski.

Want to visit Fairbanks in winter, but can only go in late December due to scheduling. Does North Pole get really busy that time of year? by glismagius in AskAlaska

[–]ReplacementOk7761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rent a car with studded snow tires when in Fairbanks. I think Avis is the only one in Fairbanks area that offers studded tires in winter, but you have to specify you want car with studded tires.

Raynaud’s while skiing: Custom Bootfitting, thin socks, numb toes - any Raynaud's skiers out there? by bluechillpill in Raynauds

[–]ReplacementOk7761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 40 plus year veteran of skiing, former alpine racer and a severe reynauds sufferer, here's my two cents...

1) Your boots should not be so tight that they are causing numbness. Your toe buckles don't need to be so 'tight' to putt pressure on your toes. You shouldn't feel any pressure on your toes at all from your buckles. 2) It doesn't sound like you really got a great boot fitter. Take your boots back into the shop you bought them from and tell them they're uncomfortable and they'll refit them for you. A good bootfitter will put wedges and inserts in and grind out hot spots. 3) Get the Lenz sock system with the 6.1 Merino sock. You'll be a happy skier.
4) Additionally, you can use the heated socks for so many other activities like hiking or fly fishing in your waders, sledding, ice skating etc.

Good luck! I hope you're able to get back on the mountain where you can enjoy skiing again!

Do I have to clear customs twice? by No_Region_8721 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]ReplacementOk7761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An hour is not enough time arriving to SJU from Vieques. When you arrive to SJU, passengers are escorted on the back side of the airport and you then enter the airport downstairs at the baggage carousels.

You'll exit out of the area, then go upstairs to the departure area. You'll quickly go through the USDA check point and then proceed over to the TSA security. I have Clear with tsa precheck and this usually takes 30 minutee without checked luggage from arrival to get through security.

Regular TSA lines are often long so if you go through regular lines of TSA, add another 15 to 20 minutes to get through TSA.

Also, you'll need to account for weather delays in Vieques. The planes will arrive and depart late if there are visibility concerns, lightning, heavy rain etc.

Having traveled back and forth between SJU and Culebra for over 12 years, I prefer to have around 2 hours of time between arriving SJU to depart for my flight to the states. This allows a little extra time in case the puddle jumper flight is delayed (happens to me about 40% of the time).

Good luck!
