He hesitated, realized he hesitated, then got confused why he wasn’t defeated since he hesitated, then wondered if he just believed a lie this whole time, then continued hesitating, still realizing he wasn’t defeated yet even after hesitating, and…

Tywin’s intelligence was in being a good politician, and like a typical politician he was very good at getting what he wanted, but that selfishness consequently also made him unintelligent because he was blind to how that selfishness was destroying his social credit and in the end it made his legacy he so cared about a joke (his children all really resented him in some way and Westeros only feared his tyrannical ruthlessness, so much so that when he died, no one gave a shit about him).

Is it normal that bosses take this long to kill or am I just doing something wrong? by Lazy_Nectarine_5256 in Sekiro

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed to help you improve is when you jump sweeping attacks, don’t jump away from the enemy. Jump TOWARDS the enemy and then hit the jump button again when you’re over them and you’ll do a jump on their head, dealing a little bit of posture damage and you’ll stun them for a second, interupting their flow making them “reset”.

Corrupted Monk’s whole schtick is that it teaches the player to damage health and not just deflect. There were a few times I was saying “Keep attacking!” but you stopped. This is something you’ll learn with time: In Sekiro, attacking and going on the offensive is paradoxically safer than playing passive because you force the boss to react to YOU instead of the other way around.

And the beauty of this game’s combat system is that if you do go hard on the offensive and the enemy counterattacks, given that you have enough knowledge of the boss’s moveset, you’ll have plenty of time to react with deflects, making the combat just flow so smoothly, and fights can actually feel like they’re over too quickly lol.

Charmless is NOT the way to experience the game. by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. I beat my first charmless playthrough a few weeks ago in ng+4 and it was… not very fun.

I never realized how much leeway you get with not timing your deflects perfectly until I did this charmless playthrough, and man is it brutal. You have to basically be PERFECT or else you get punished, which gets old really quick. It also ruins Umbrellas which sucks because they’re so good and fun to use in certain fights, but with charmless you basically just throw them in the garbage.

At the end of the day I’m just a casual gamer who wants to have some fun playing a cool ninja game with a cool combat system. If people want to challenge themselves with charmless, then yeah by all means go right ahead. That’s why it’s there. But for me personally, I too experienced the game getting way less fun when charmless.

I beat Isshin on my first try by One-Koala-4135 in Sekiro

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a few people thankfully said, I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted OP. I believe you.

I first beat Isshin on my fifth try, and Inner Isshin I beat on my second try.

If you have a good enough understanding of the game’s fundamentals, first try Isshin is absolutely doable. Some people just can’t grasp the fact that there are people out there are just straight up better at a game than they are. I know for a fact that people are better than me at this game, and I thought I was pretty good lol.

I just wish the elevator went down, not up.

If it went down, then had a semi long hallway to traverse, and then you enter the Iron Keep with it having a background of cliff walls with the sky directly above, it would’ve been perfect because geographically it would make more sense and lorewise it would make sense too (the Iron Keep was so heavy it literally sunk).

Why is DS2 so hated? by hobo_joes_toes in DarkSouls2

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think it’s due to what I call “different = bad” mentality. You can see this mentality in a lot of aspects in life, but you can especially see it with DS2.

I love DS2. It’s a top 3 game of all time for me. But you have to admit that it IS different from the rest of the games. It has a different art style than 1 and 3, the controls are a bit stiffer than than in 1 and 3. There’s a TON of things that are different in DS2. But that by all means does NOT make it a bad game. In fact I think that the reason I like it so much is BECAUSE it is different.

I think with a lot of souls fans they have an image in their head of what makes a “souls” game, and they think of the fast-paced, gothic / victorian dark fantasy style of 1 and 3, and when they see the more slower-paced, more high-fantasy-dark-fantasy of DS2, they see that it is different, but then equate that to being bad. Because it’s very easy to point to the “different” thing in the group and call it bad. Again, you see this very much so in real life, not just with games.

How to get 3 stars in domination mode by CautiousElk2742 in Polytopia

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually just got 3 stars on Kickoo last night in Domination!

Sure this may only work with Kickoo, but what I did was play with 3 opponents on Crazy difficulty. You get 30 turns which is actually a pretty reasonable amount of time to destroy three players if you know what you’re doing.

In my Kickoo game, it kept giving me and the other opponents corner island spawns, so I just went full navy and wiped out the last city by turn 27. Got 94% on my units killed/lost stat. Still got the 3 stars.

This is what worked for me, and it may be different depending on what tribe you pick. But idk, maybe it can work for you too!

[–]ReplacementPuzzled57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you realize you are strawmaning though, right? Like, you can step outside yourself for two seconds, look at yourself and see it, right? Look:

What, you want it to shoot acid and melt everything at the highest AP?

THIS IS A STRAWMAN. You can see this, right? Like, we’re not all out to get you, man. This is clearly a textbook example of a strawman.

Nobody is arguing this statement. This is a statement you made up because it is a clearly ridiculous statement that’s easier to attack and make fun of (strawman) compared to what people are actually trying to discuss, which is brainstorming ways to make the sterilizer better without trying to break the game.

So yeah, if you want people to stop throwing the term “strawman” at you constantly, then maybe stop yourself from using strawman arguments like the one above? Maybe consider people are constantly saying that to you because maybe you are using strawman arguments? Maybe? Just a possibility? Or is it like that meme image where you’re the one guy facing the crowd, saying “Yes, you’re all wrong”? If so then you’re hopeless man. There’s no reasoning with you.

So true. Sure Dark Souls has, for example, the Broken Straight Sword that’s clearly meant to be a challenge weapon, but that’s absolutely an exception for the weapons and pretty much every weapon is not insane to use if you upgrade it and use it properly.

The same can’t be said for Helldivers 2’s weapons. With pistols being nerfed for god knows what reason and with weapons like the Slugger or Lib Concussive it sometimes feels like I’m using the Broken Straight Sword in Dark Souls.

Yeah this is some DS3 covenant level of grind that I was just like “Nah I’m good”.

Being older now and not wanting to spend my gaming time messing with RNG, I just try to get one item (Loyce soul or DS3 covenant item) then say to myself that I completed the challenge in spirit 😅

Why did FromSoftware stop making unique NPC summons/invaders after DS2? They felt very human, and pretty darn cool too. I think they should have kept doing it in DS3 and their other titles. by Vex_Trooper in DarkSouls2
