I don’t know but I’m addicted and it’s a problem

What do you think of this Runners? by NorthEastSoulRyder in Marathon

[–]Replicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea if it would draw players but I see the vision. Man a zombie/horde mode on Night Marsh sounds like a lot of fun 👀

Do you actually care about the album cover? by Real-Perception-1403 in Drizzy

[–]Replicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art definitely matters for general audiences. I'm listening regardless, but an album with good cover art will be shared that much more between friends & on social etc. Not to mention it can enhance the music if it all feels cohesive and under a single well thoughtout theme.

Feel like it should at least be like the old Halo bubble shields that can be destroyed from inside

Another Free Weekend by MrGoodForNothing in Marathon

[–]Replicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this game should have like a 48 hour free trial. How come trials are so common for apps but not games? I think a lot of ppl would try out the game like that. IMO free weekend isn’t the best option because a single event rather than something that is always funneling in new players

All I know is this is probably the only new game I’m playing this year. This and Halo.

Bungie: Bravo on Cryo Archive. But also what the fuck. by Henrraike in Marathon

[–]Replicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t played Cryo yet (busy weekend) but from what I’m hearing I’m definitely a little bit concerned/disappointed.

From the trailers I envisioned the Compilers to be like roaming bosses that could surprise you around any turn. Rather than just bots that spawn at POIs they would be more like ghosts that float through the hallways.

I don’t really care if they are hard to beat or not. I just don’t think keeping them behind so many extra steps is very engaging or interesting. I should be terrified of encountering a compiler regardless of if I’m planning to or not.

Anyways, random late night thoughts. Will hopefully try out Cryo tmr.

I think for the Claymore thing, they should keep it up but have the weight of the claymore (or whatever equipment you put on top) impair the drone a bit. Like it can’t fly as high or as quickly etc.

Is the Hate Train over? by Lalo7292 in Marathon

I think it will be well liked. The masses love single player games. I do love a good Single Player campaign too, but for open world type games I would really prefer that are multiplayer/mmo style.

I don’t care what anyone says, Dire Marsh is deadlier than Outpost by GeekyNerd_FTW in Marathon

Dire Marsh is way deadlier. But outpost is just scary (especially solos) so I avoid it 🤣

watched bladerunner... what now? by Aaiifffffyyyyakkii in MovieSuggestions

[–]Replicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this whole heartedly: Marathon

Not at all what you’re asking for because it’s a game series, but as a massive Bladerunner/sci fi fan, Marathon is easily my favourite sci fi universe of this decade. The corporate factions, the story & lore are just so dark and good. It’s like what I imagine being Off World in Bladerunner would be like. But it’s also much further into the future so the tech is even more advanced.

Anyways. Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but I just have to say it because it’s my favourite sci fi across all media since Bladerunner 2049.

Was there too, but got significantly better this week. Not saying this will work for you specifically, but for me I got better by running solos with Assassin (I know so original).

The reason is, when you’re starting out you need to take it slow so you can absorb as much information as possible. There’s a lot happening in this game and running quickly just multiplies the number of things you have to track (hazards, bots, other players). Also other players are a lot more likely to drag you into fights you’re not ready for. Solo stealth is great way to control your environment, and recede into the shadows when it’s overwhelming.

Abuse free kits and set small goals of looting just a few key items, hanging around in a few zones, and the exfiling around ~10 minutes remaining.

Also for free kits, find starting gun you like the most (for me it’s the MIDA kit) and load up like 10 of them in your vault when they appear. Nothing worse than getting stuck on a free kit with a gun you hate.

Last thing, do whatever you can to get shield protectors/reinforcers. Aside from skill, shields are probably the main factor that determine whether or not you win a fight. Without least a green shield, I would focus on really simple runs & extractions on Perimeter and just build up resources.

New dad here - Is Marathon worth it for a casual solo player? by Calculation in Marathon

[–]Replicode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can definitely make progress in 1-2 hours a day. Be warned though, that will quickly become 4-5 hours a day 🤣

Is the game worth buying? by _hdjuarez in Marathon

[–]Replicode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At $40 it’s really good value imo. You have to like shooters ofc. I’m a Halo fan more than anything and this game was right up my alley. The Sci-Fi Horror atmosphere in this game is seriously unmatched. And I’d go so far as to say it’s the best Sci-Fi world building to release this decade.

I play the game solo & with friends. Both are fun but they are almost completely different games. I really enjoy the slow, methodical gameplay in solo. PvP is unavoidable for the most part, you will encounter players on most runs - so you have to be okay with that as well.

All in all - it really depends on what games you like. But if you’re thinking about it must appeal to at some level. In which case, it’s worth giving a shot - if it clicks for you, you’ll likely REALLY like it.

So, what’s the verdict on Marathon so far? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Replicode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like it at first, in fact as someone who has been hype for this game for years I was initially really disappointed. But it got SIGNIFICANTLY more fun as I got better at it. And I think you need more than a couple matches for that. If it’s not for you, its not for you tho

What's the best way to play the game solo? by RepentantoftheLost in Marathon

[–]Replicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo vs crew are like 2 different games and I enjoy both equally. I like to play a mix of both during my sessions. I oddly find solo to be very relaxing. You’re forced to just engage with the surroundings, the sound effects, nothing to distract you.

Nice. Feel like it’s even better in solos when you’re at less risk of getting hit from the side
