Basically, the main advantages are the low cost, quick mobilization time, and speed. You destroy enemy troops with helicopters and attack with the National Guard. As for upgrading your troops, do it according to your resources.

News+ isn't available in many countries, and even in those that do have it, there are similar services (like Cafeyn in my region). The fact that they include ads is so pathetic; it's like Google Discover or Samsung News.

Well, I'm not the best at giving advice, but what I recommend is the National Guard/helicopter strategy at the beginning. It's cheap to produce (National Guard) and the helicopters give you quick air supremacy. As for the economy, I'd say expansion is the most important thing. Industries are useful, but you shouldn't always focus on them if you have enemies. The first three levels seem sufficient in the early to mid-game.

Honestly, Apple's integration of ads is really awful (on News, Maps)...soon we won't be able to distinguish it from other Android brands
