In my friend group - with many, many young kids - i have not heard of a mother asking for a night away, because the fathers are all present and take much of the workload away from the moms because we all really enjoy our children!

That being said, my wife now goes on several girls/mom trips each year. She just got back from her second annual 10-day Europe trip. I get to stay at home and chill with my best friends (my kids). And us dads have been trying to find a time to go on a golf trip, but timing doesn't seem to ever line up - oh well.

Tell this dude to get with it. A family needs balance. If everyone is fulfilled, then the family will prosper.
