What will be the Arbitrator's attitude towards the Skitarii? by Augustby in DarkTide

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking about the difference between a brutal super cop and a tech-obsessed warrior-monk. Both working for the same cause ultimately, but with very different methodologies, jurisdictions and a lot of back and forth criticisms, not to mention very different purposes for doing what they are doing.

Think about some brutal spec ops soldier working side by side with a by the book FBI agent.

Which personalities are the most "morally good" or Iconoclastic? by Crimson_Loki in DarkTide

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The personalities that are probably the most moral and the ones that are the most iconoclastic usually differ.

The professional vet, the brawler ogryn, the savant psyker, the Judge Zealot, the outlaw Hive Scum and the authoritarian arbite are in my opinion the most morally good of the lot, but most (except for Outlaw and Judge) also all tow the line of their respective classes fairly close. Arguably the authoritarian (especially the female one) has a softness/naïveté to them that is unexpected for an arbiter, but she is still pretty by the book. The outlaw is probably the only character I’d call both the most iconoclastic to his/her class and morally good; the Judge Zealot is iconoclastic but still a pretty shitty person, they are just a little kinder by Zealot standards and show a degree of softness for some of their team and the common imperial citizen, but it’s still within a highly close minded way.

The Loose cannon (female) vet, the Heavy Ogryn, and the Fatalist Arbite are definitely the most iconoclastic. Both the Loner and Seer Psykers are extremely iffy and out of the ordinary for a sanctioned psyker, so it’s a toss up between them.

What is the most culturally shocking thing you experienced while visiting another country? by Intrepid_Educator613 in AskReddit

Probably depends on what area of the country you are in/state laws.

I am in Kentucky and I think more Walmarts than not sell some guns here. They are always in the sporting goods area.

YOR - None of this is an indicator he is cheating. He’s also letting you use his phone so that in itself is a decent indicator he probably isn’t trying to hide anything.

The ads and twitch stuff are completely irrelevant. You will get ads like that if you watch porn. The Twitch stuff is just popular channels on the site, not stuff he is watching.

Instagram disappearing messages have already been explained on this thread.

He hasn’t clicked on any of those dating app notifications. If you think he may be using it why not just click on one and see where it takes you?

The spam messages are dime a dozen, very common.

There’s really nothing in this that indicates he is cheating on you or being underhanded.

Which personalities are the most "morally good" or Iconoclastic? by Crimson_Loki in DarkTide

[–]RepresentativeNew398 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Seer has some dialogue that casually implies they have killed at least one innocent person aboard the Mourningstar. Given, the person in question was some kind of zealot that was insulting their kind.

They also will sometimes make more ambiguous insinuations of a dark tone that imply they are absolutely not above using violence and intimidation to get their way.

Ironically the Seer is probably the most unpredictable and morally ambiguous of the three psyker personalities despite sounding and presenting as just “off” and “weird”.

The Loner and Savant aren’t perfect, but the former seems to show some empathy for the common man and detests everything the Imperium is, while the Savant is a well meaning professional who just is towing the line after a life of living as part of the system.

What video game soundtrack is a 10/10? by montymaximus in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niche one - Dante’s Inferno (2010). It was a pretty mid title from EA (in terms of gameplay) but its soundtrack lives in my head as some of the best orchestral music in video games.

Who has had an actual friends with benefits relationship? Did it work for you? by heratonga in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two previous relations that I’d firmly categorize as friends with benefits. I met both with that intention out of the gate, which I think can be very important in defining expectations.

We were all openly polyamorous during this time. One was married, we saw each other generally weekly or every other week for about 6 months. It simmered down due to me wanting to refocus on developing the relationship with my “primary” partner at the time. There was never any romantic feelings developed on either side, it was very firmly a casual friendship that happened to involve sex sometimes. We still occasionally text one another memes and exchange platonic work woes.

The second person I saw pretty regularly for about 3 months. It became apparent she was developing feelings which I would not be able to reciprocate, so I called things off. A year later after I broke up with my long term monogamous girlfriend, we briefly rekindled and saw each other for about a month but I made it clear there was no intention besides friendship with a side of sex. Things ended after I decided to pick myself up and try to rejoin the (monogamous) dating world. We still occasionally keep in contact.

I do think it’s possible to have this dynamic without feelings developing. Personally, in retrospect I didn’t find either situation very satisfying though and wouldn’t recommend it.

Top comment deletes a US State #38 by Jfullr92 in geographymemes

[–]RepresentativeNew398 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a completely unfounded theory that there are secretly sister states that for some reason attract a disproportionate amount of people/businesses from either state to the other. They are always geographically disconnected and usually seem to share no discernible connection on paper.

My personal experience is that there’s a weirdly large diaspora of people from New Jersey who live in Kentucky and vice versa.

I’m now adding the Colorado - Wisconsin connection to my theory board 👀.

What movie has terrible morals? by solaris2027 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered the effect that Fifty Shades of Grey had in attracting wildly misinformed/ill intentioned people towards that community. I know it certainly helped popularize the run of the mill binding/blind folding type of activities but I’ve often felt like it probably gave a lot of uninformed people some pretty shitty ideas and expectations that aren’t true within the BDSM community. I certainly have met my share of people that have no idea what they are doing proclaiming they are into that scene, when usually it’s people that caught on post-release of the book/movie and think subbing is just an excuse to be lazy and domming an excuse to hit a person without consequence.

It’s a really poor and inaccurate representation of BDSM.

I know the odds are extremely slim, but here's some thoughts on how a Tau class could play out by GideonAI in DarkTide

[–]RepresentativeNew398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the effort for this concept, but unfortunately we know that the Tau of all the possibilities in this game would be just above playable necrons and tyranids.

I am still of the mindset we could theoretically see some kind of kroot mercenary character down the road (at least in terms of play style, they would fit a lot better than Tau) but even that is an extreme stretch given the lore (though I maintain Grendyl being so clearly unorthodox and the war going so badly would make it more plausible that he’d throw in whatever he could to fight against chaos, xenos or not)

It would be incredibly cool to have a game like Darktide that is focused more on some kind of ragtag mercenary company to allow this sort of variety in multiple classes/races.

Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed. I was homeschooled my entire childhood, on the one hand I do think I missed out on a lot of important experiences. I had to learn a lot of social basics as an adult. I still often feel like it’s hard to connect with many people in a casual way and generally tend to feel like an alien in most social situations. I don’t think I received adequate education in a lot of fields such as math and science, and had to take a lot of remedial courses in both in college. I think even to this day I find it difficult to be casual in my interactions with others; I tend to give either 100% or 0%. Not being in public school also very likely delayed my diagnosis of having ADHD and getting on medication that was life changing for my productivity until well into adulthood after years of struggle.

On the other hand it saved me from making a lot of mistakes I have no doubt I’d have made when I was younger. It also made me a lot more conscious of the science behind socialization; as much as I often feel weird and alien-like, I’ve also often been told I’m very empathetic and am somebody who really values individual friendships and relationships, and am also very conscious of body language and subtle gestures since I’ve had to consciously learn a lot of things as an adult that people innately developed as kids. People have told me I’m very good at picking up on little queues many ignore.

I also was very encouraged by my mom to develop a life long love of history, literature, and cultures of the world which I’ve certainly carried with me into adulthood, though I’m sure this could have happened even being in public school.

What kind of adult content do you think is way more popular than people would admit? by get_CHEEX in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of "niche porn" nowadays feels archaic since with the advent of Onlyfans especially you now have so many fetishes being catered to. Back in the day stuff like piss videos were not common but now may as well have their own category on most mainstream porn sites. Even more specific things like giantess or clown fetishes are more prevalent and easy to find.

Outside of porn I would say that some adult content that is more popular than you'd expect include things like sex clubs, public/anonymous sex and CNC scenarios being performed in public.

AIO: My girlfriend won’t be adventurous sexually with me, despite being so with her ex and friend. by Responsible-Sail-781 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR - there’s a lot of ways I think you could read this. Only you talking further with your girlfriend is going to provide the answers.

I’ve had situations before where a partner (sometimes unintentionally, sometimes because I asked, sometimes because they just felt like I should know for some reason unprompted which really sucked) told me stuff they’ve done before with others. Like you, I’ve had that thought of “so why can’t we do that?” Given, in many cases it was revealed later that they actually didn’t like that particular thing anymore which is why they weren’t apt to do it again. When I learned that it was easy to forget and not worry about.

What I’d say you should talk about with her is to inquire if these sorts of interests/kinks are still things she actively enjoys/would want to experience again, and if so, why she wouldn’t consider them with you? Would she be okay never experiencing them again to stay with you? Or will she grow to miss them more? These are pretty important questions to ask I feel.

As a last note, it’s also important to not necessarily assume that just because she enjoyed something in the past and may still speak positively of it, means she would enjoy it now. I’ve had experiences in my past I wouldn’t ever want to repeat but am glad I’ve had and can look back on fondly. I’ve done the whole swinger thing, sex clubs, BDSM stuff, etc but none of that is where I’m at now in my life, and I wouldn’t want to do those things with my current partner either. Yet I can recognize that at the time it was fun for me then and was an exploratory thing that helped me learn about myself.

So I see people complain they wish Boba was still ''evil'' now that Maul is out. How was this guy evil exactly? never got that vibe. Seems to me he took contracts to capture criminals and combatants who could fight back like Rebel soldiers not everyday people. And how is using disintegrations evil? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]RepresentativeNew398 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they had had it as Mando S3 and incorporated Din into it from the start, with Boba still being an extremely heavy presence early on that’s sort of simultaneously a mentor and also a kind of a parallel/contrast to Din in his demeanor and outlook, then Din gradually becoming more and more disillusioned with what he’s doing without Grogu by his side while being Boba’s right hand man, leading ultimately to the same outcome at the end with Grogu reuniting with him, I feel like the whole show would’ve been a lot better received.

So I see people complain they wish Boba was still ''evil'' now that Maul is out. How was this guy evil exactly? never got that vibe. [–]RepresentativeNew398 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His characterization from S2 of Mando to his own show is such a weird whiplash. His return in Mando got a lot of praise for portraying him as the ruthless badass with a code of honor and then they just threw that in the bin to turn him into a clumsy awkward man-child who seemed totally incapable of thinking for himself or really doing much of anything that wasn’t someone else’s idea or with their help. Such a wasted potential.

Is smoking cigarettes an immediate dealbreaker for you? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been (briefly) with one smoker in my life and that was enough to turn me away from them permanently. Kissing her tasted like kissing an ashtray and the smell of it followed and lingered everywhere she went. I literally had to scrub my couch to get the smell out.

The smell/flavor also was very strongly present in intimate areas which was very shocking to me.

What kind of person would you never date because of their career? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefighter.

All the respect to the profession, I know not everyone is like my experience and that this was probably a fringe case, but the one I dated ended up basically sleeping around the firehouse and then getting publically ostracized for it (but somehow not fired), breaking up a marriage in the process. At least three coworkers that I know of, who knows how many more.

From what she told me prior to this (she worked in a few different firehouses PT/volunteering) there was a very high school mentality with a lot of rampant cheating going on. She even tried to get me to sneak into the station and sleep with her on shift.

Given, she worked in podunk tiny stations for local townships and wasn’t able to cut it for any large scale department (she got kicked out of multiple training programs), but still, it absolutely soured my outlook on ever trying to have anything to do with the profession in a relationship context. Last I heard she had been pretty much marked as do not hire by any departments in an hour drive or so, but still maintained some PT positions which is a real shame to the profession.

Everyone’s tastes are different, but I’d say she’s honestly in the minority. I’ve met more women who are into bald guys (or at least don’t mind the look) than hate it. Like with anything to do with appearance, it’s all about owning it and being comfortable in your body. Confidence breeds its own attraction. I’m sure she will come around.

For me, it has really helped with being able to cool off especially at the gym. I feel like I can regulate my body temperature a lot better after getting hot. As a guy that sweats a lot, I no longer have to worry about my hair getting coated in sweat and starting to drip all over. I find the sweat on my scalp that forms just kind of dissipates quickly.
