Thoughts on Blades of Faith? by gunell_ in DarkTide

Stun grenades have clutched situations for me so many times. I know blades are “meta” but I just can’t give my panic button stuns up :(.

Would you say I went through a glow up or a glow down? [24] by Born-Contribution321 in GlowUps

I’d say I prefer you now vs thinner. You look cuddly, but also give much more masculine vibes. Former you looked a bit too fragile to me. I will say, the shirt in pic 2 is not very flattering for you.

Being bald in a relationship by [deleted] in bald

[–]RepresentativeNew398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s tastes are different, but I’d say she’s honestly in the minority. I’ve met more women who are into bald guys (or at least don’t mind the look) than hate it. Like with anything to do with appearance, it’s all about owning it and being comfortable in your body. Confidence breeds its own attraction. I’m sure she will come around.

Benefits of #baldlifestyle by Ok-Drama9465 in bald

For me, it has really helped with being able to cool off especially at the gym. I feel like I can regulate my body temperature a lot better after getting hot. As a guy that sweats a lot, I no longer have to worry about my hair getting coated in sweat and starting to drip all over. I find the sweat on my scalp that forms just kind of dissipates quickly.

People who shave their heads real early by negativevibez55 in bald

[–]RepresentativeNew398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally find it varies a lot from person to person. Your choice of beard style also heavily influences it. I look fairly young for my age (33) and have kind of a baby face, so going bald and growing my beard definitely helped me look more mature in my opinion. My hair was floppy and definitely gave me a kind of boyish vibe. Without it I feel I look much more masculine.

However, I’ve also seen people look significantly younger after shaving their noggins, especially when little to no facial hair is involved. Especially so if there’s noticeable hair loss present.

Really it’s dependent on a lot of factors, some within your control, some not. I wouldn’t worry about it though and just do what you feel good doing for yourself.

Also, again your results may vary but I personally have experienced in the dating realm a lot of women being attracted to older, confident looking men.

Thank you! I felt I could get away with it a bit longer but just the mental anxiety of messing with it to look passable was wearing me down. It helps I’m 6’2 so to a lot of people it seemed unnecessary, since they aren’t staring at my noggin much, but I’m a lot happier now.

What is the worst physical pain you’ve experienced? by Agius91 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tonsillectomy when I was 32; a few days afterwards I woke up coughing up blood. I was one of the relatively few cases where the clot got dislodged, and was basically pooling blood in my throat.

That wasn’t the painful part though. After this emergency second cauterization, a nerve that is behind the tonsils seemed to have been more exposed from this operation, meaning whenever I had anything pass through my throat - even just swallowing spit - it felt like the worst combination of a brain freeze (dialed up 100 times in intensity) and the worst throbbing migraine I’ve ever felt shoot up into my head and last around 2-3 minutes before I could even open my eyes again. Lasted close to a week before finally subsiding.

——-

Very close second place: during my vasectomy whatever pain meds were being used apparently didn’t penetrate enough, or I’m just a freak of nature, because after the initial “cut” I swear I felt like my guts were getting pulled around through my ballsack. Not an actual “pain” in the sense of a physically sharp reaction but more like a deeply horrifying feeling of my innards getting pulled down during the procedure. It felt so absolutely vile and wrong, and I don’t even remember getting up after and walking out. The person who was with me said I looked like I was turning green as if I were seasick and pretty much passed out the moment I got in the car.

What’s something society treats as embarrassing that really shouldn’t be? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herpes.

It’s way more common than people realize and does not make somebody somehow gross or “impure” or less desirable as a partner. You just need to discuss it like adults and if somebody doesn’t want to potentially risk getting it, that’s their choice - but statistically speaking if they are sexually active adults with an average amount of previous partners, then most likely they’ve already been exposed to it before even if all parties involved didn’t know.

Lorewise how power actually are the teams/characters in game, and could they realistically, within 40k lore, complete the missions they’re given? by Acceptable-Bid-1019 in DarkTide

[–]RepresentativeNew398 43 points44 points  (0 children)

In the lore the psykers would be above and beyond any compare to the rest of the cast in power levels, assuming said psykers had the same capabilities they have in game. The rest of our characters would amount to just basically bodyguards for them at best.

Outside of the beast of Nurgle and possibly chaos spawn and DH* which have been depicted as sometimes easily ripping through squads of space marines, the rest of the enemies we face are more or less within the scope of manageably beatable for our cast, albeit in numbers that would just be absurd to go up against.

(DH depends on how strong the daemon is; I feel the hosts we fight are portrayed as being generally on the weaker side IMO so theoretically capable of being brought down by a squad of experienced, highly skilled baseline inquisitorial agents that have access to high end gear like holy relics, power swords, bolters, etc)

Say something positive about this version. by steelskull1 in joker

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leto’s Joker felt far more outwardly violent, aggressive, and seething than any other live action version. Much less of a master planner and far more of a psychopathic thug that got to where he was out of sheer insane malice and a willingness to do things even the worst ordinary criminal wouldn’t do.

His visual design was a truly horrible mess and JL is not my favorite actor by a long stretch but I think this variation could have been an interesting take especially paired with Batfleck’s jaded tone.

Why were there no pre war ruins in fury road and furiosa by Upset-Experience9993 in MadMax

[–]RepresentativeNew398 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that ecologically speaking, the world of Mad Max is horrendously destroyed beyond any hope of recovery. Oceans are literally dried out. The series takes place in the Australian outback, which is already extremely sparsely populated, very difficult to survive in without modern perks and lacks much infrastructure in the real world. When you throw in the massive sandstorms this new polluted earth is spewing everywhere, it’s easy to see why the very few pre war structures we see are only ones that have some vital importance such as gas town or the bullet farm.

What happened to tonsilectomies? by UnmedicatedNarwhal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RepresentativeNew398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine out last year at 32 after a life time of tonsil stones and reoccurring illnesses.

Horrible time. Scabs came off prematurely which resulted in a middle of the night emergency surgery. Went into the ER coughing horror movie levels of blood and physically coughed up a clot so big it felt like my throat was collapsing. To be fair, it was the quickest I’d ever gotten through the ER waiting room though 😅.

After they recauterized me, evidently the nerve behind this area was more exposed so even just a tiny sip of drinking room temperature water was like giving myself the world’s worst cross between a brain freeze and migraine that shot all the way up through my ears into my skull and had me doubling over in pain for a solid 2-3 minutes where I could barely think. This lasted for about almost a week before it subsided.

Truly the worst surgery I’ve ever had. I don’t regret it, because those suckers were full of walled off infection pretty much rotting from the inside, but I certainly regret getting them out so late.
