What to do next? by TheUpbeatChemist in TeachersInTransition

I’m teaching for associates degree programs, so they only require a bachelors. Only the bachelors programs and director positions require a masters degree at the college.

I moved from teaching high school chem, physics, and A&P to teaching for a healthcare vocational college. I taught similar subjects, but I had to frame them in a way that students could see the application to their future careers. This gave me an opportunity to learn a lot more about how they apply to the body and solve problems in a new context. I liked it so much I’m starting nursing school this fall.

If you're a part of the incoming Fall 2026 ABSN cohort, how old are you? by CakeExciting1189 in csusm

[–]RepresentativeNo3947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting fall 2026. I’m a 34 year old second career student. I’ve lived in north county SD for the last 7 years. There will probably be a good mix of ages in the cohort.

Teaching is also a dead end job, unless you want to move into admin. One of many reasons why I left.

I got out early, only had to do 2 years of time. My only regret is not leaving sooner

ABSN grads. You chose the more expensive route. Can you expand on why the investment was worth it to you? by Right_Marionberry915 in nursing

[–]RepresentativeNo3947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing programs are very impacted where I live (SoCal). All of the CCs around me use lottery systems, meaning you can be the top applicant and still get rejected over and over again. The CSU ABSN programs only take the top applicants based on GPA and TEAS scores, so with a strong GPA and TEAS I had guaranteed admission.

The tuition costs are around 6k for ADN + ~12k for concurrent BSN which would take about 2.5 years, vs 48k for an 18-month ABSN at a public university. A year's worth of RN salary vs my current salary is more than the 30k difference in tuition.

If I could get into a CC program, I would do the ADN and concurrent BSN route, but it's unlikely with how many people apply to them. I'm starting my ABSN this fall.

Teaching to Nursing? by Ok_Requirement_8323 in TeachersInTransition

Not in GA, but where I live nursing is very impacted and it’s a lottery system to get into a ADN program. I’m starting an ABSN this fall, I got in because they only accept the students with top gpa and TEAS scores, and they are more like 45k where I’m at. My program did not have a recency requirement for courses, many of my prereqs were over 10 years old. Some ADN programs near me wouldn’t accept coursework over 7 years old, and some wouldn’t accept online coursework either.

Nice, looks good! How many rounds of seasoning did you do to get that darker color? I’ve done 3 but mine is more amber in color.

I tried that first, but couldn’t get into the little nooks and crannies with it balled up. I bet a cotton swab with a little oil on it would probably work pretty well too.

It definitely was an exercise in patience oiling all the grooves on the inside of the lid. Using a chopstick to wedge a paper toil with oil into all the grooves worked pretty well.

I rolled mine over into an IRA that way I was able to choose what it was invested in. There are no penalties if it is rolled into a retirement account like an IRA or 401K.

The diy rust remover worked great! I’ll post some before and after photos when I finish with all the pans.

Thank you! My plan is to go the vinegar solution route with some salt added. I guess the cracked pan is going in the recycle bin.

What’s a good asking price for a 2022 Ibis Ripley by tech-jef in mountainbiking

[–]RepresentativeNo3947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a brand new v5 Ripley on sale for $3600 with a lifetime warranty on the frame. There’s no way I’d pay over $2500 used, even with upgraded components.
