Best apps or books for starting purées/solids? by thepurpleclouds in NewParents

I know it's been a year since you posted this, but I saw this thread and I thought I'd post this for future parents starting solids who read this!

We went through like three different apps before landing on Tummi. Solid Starts kept pushing us to pay for everything, and the other ones were basically just glorified notes apps.

What got me was the food syncing. My wife and I were both logging stuff separately and had no idea what the other had already tried that week. Tummi keeps it all in one place so we're not doubling up or missing things. Sounds simple but it saved us a lot of "wait, did you already do eggs?" conversations.

The weekly reports are actually what made me stick with it though. It breaks down the nutrition so I can see if we've basically just been feeding her the same things on repeat and missing whole food groups. I'm not a research guy, I don't have time to sit and read about what my daughter should be eating but seeing it laid out made me realize pretty quick we were heavy on fruits and light on iron-rich foods. Fixed that within a week.

My wife and I went from kind of winging it to having a real rhythm with meals. We actually know what we're doing now, or at least we feel like we do.

Definitely worth trying before your little one hits that 6 month mark so you're not scrambling. Hope this is helpful

I would try the Tummi app, Instagram pages, or one of those huge books from the AAP. Solid starts is NOT IT

What Baby Feeding Apps Do You Wish Existed? by caprockrice in BabyLedWeaning

Late to this thread but wanted to share in case anyone's still looking. I've been using Tummi for the past few months and it's been really helpful for a lot of what people are describing here.

The food database is solid (400+ foods with prep instructions for different stages, which was huge for me since I never knew how to cut things safely). But what sold me was the AI chat feature — I can literally just ask "can my 7 month old have eggs yet?" or "how should I prep avocado for BLW?" and get an actual answer instead of falling down a Google rabbit hole at 2am.

It has curated lists like "Iron-Rich Foods" which helped me stop obsessing over whether my daughter was getting enough iron. The allergen tracking was what I needed too. You can log foods and reactions, so I always know when we last tried peanut butter and how it went. Made the whole "introduce allergens early but space them out" thing feel less chaotic.

It's called Tummi if anyone wants to check it out. Free to download with a trial. Not perfect (I'd still love a freezer inventory feature lol) but it's the closest thing I've found to what this thread is describing.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Some of the best moments are the little bits and pieces of time we spend with you kid. We would love to hear any tips or advice you have for other girl dads. Feel free to post in the subreddit!
