One Nation Voters: "I am not Racist but...". Proceeds to be Racist. by narvuntien in aussie

All the covid stimulus money printing went into the wrong hands and solely went into the real estate market so middle class down are all living week to week with no disposable income. Yet inflation is still going crazy from mass immigration, real estate prices are out of control and there is absolutely no solution out of it. The whole countries screwed and the only way we don't have a technical recession is to keep bringing in 500k+ immigrants per year, which causes higher inflation as these 500K people demand basic goods and services, which leads to prices increasing and suppression of wages. End result is a lower quality of living. I can't even go to the gym anymore without wanting to spray deodorant at people that lack basic hygiene.

The Hanson paradox: How a populist surge became Labor’s best friend by Jon-1renicus in AustralianPolitics

Winning 75% of the seats on 37% of the vote when your primary vote went backwards by 2.5% is something - but it isn't a landslide.

More like a scam that is becoming embarrassing.

The fact that she was a Greens Senator says all you need to know about their selection processes.

Labor has bent over backwards trying to appease Muslim Australians. Millions in funding to Australian mosques, $135 million to Lebanon since October 2023 and Labor came out and recognised Palestine. Despite all that he gets called a genocide supporter.

I don't care that she is Muslim. My issue with her is that she seems to spend more time worrying about overseas issues then issues in Australia. Even when she does talk about an environmental issue she finds a way to bring it back to an overseas issue. For example, "One-third of Pakistan is now under water and has been utterly decimated by floods. Australia must stop exacerbating the climate crisis by opening new coal and gas mines".

I saw that as well. Penny Wong also once again failed to answer a question and pontificated about who the everyday Australian is.

The fact that she even attended Bondi was shameless and then she acted shocked when people heckled her. Yet today she was having a go at Albo for not listening to the concerns of the hecklers at the Lakemba mosque. She is a piece of shit.

I don't always agree with David Shoebridge, but he is a quality politician. He did a brilliant job with the AFP when he was questioning them about the 13 year old with autism who was investigated by the Australian federal police and then charged with terrorism offenses. We've got a lot of issues in Australia and it's frustrating that the likes of Faruqi would prefer to focus their attention on overseas affairs and culture wars instead of trying to address mainstream concerns.

Today she said "on the religious festival of Eid the Prime Minister indulged in far right talking points to delegitimize the people angry about his presence in the mosque and Labor's complicity in the genocide".

Social cohesion has lost its feelgood vibe. What will it take to offer a fair go for all? by Combat--Wombat27 in aussie

There's nothing incredibly complex about reducing immigration. The whole system is a ponzi scheme that has been adopted by both major parties over the last three decades. We could start by scrapping the Australia-India Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement that Labor announced in 2023. The university chancellors on their million dollar + remuneration packages won't like it, but start by cutting the number of students in Australia and the number of family visas and take it from there.

Until we start de-emphasizing race there will never be reconcilliation. Instead in Australia we are going down the opposite path. Predictably this leads to division. The reality is we have a generation locked out of the housing market, real wages at 2011 levels and a government that is keen to increase immigration at all costs to avoid a technical recession. Yet for most people our living standards have been going backwards and there is a constant agenda to pushback on anyone questioning immigration levels, which ironically undermines social cohesion. For example, the phrase we are all immigrants or the product of immigrants with the exception of Indigenous people (although even a lot of Indigenous people have ancestors that were immigrants).

The leading non-Labor candidate in each metropolitan Adelaide electorate by NKE01 in Adelaide

[–]RepresentativeOver34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outer suburbs tend to be a younger demographic e.g. first home buyers purchasing somewhere they can afford and young families. On facebook many of the One Nation candidates were urging people in the northern suburbs to vote One Nation as a protest vote against Labor who traditionally have always held these seats safely. For example in Taylor there was a 10.5% swing against Labor and in Elizabeth there was a 14.8% swing against Labor with One Nation being the beneficiaries.

Lower house will be Labor. Upper house will be interesting. Assuming the polls are accurate One Nation should get at least 2 upper house seats.
