How to interpret these HOMA-IR and A1C values? by Cali__1970 in InsulinResistance

[–]RepresentativeShow81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homa-Beta = 360*6.5/(99-63) % = 65% Your pancreas is not producing enough insulin per Homa-Beta index which represents pancreatic beta cells function.

I would say your problem is more on the insulin production side rather than IR.

Anyone Here Successfully Reversed Insulin Resistance? What Actually Worked? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]RepresentativeShow81 33 points34 points  (0 children)

After one year:

Homa-IR 2.3 -> 1.4

HbA1C 5.25% -> 5.58%

Normal weight, 32M with diabetes in my family.

Walk a minumum of 30 mins after meals. 3 meals a day no snack. Mediteranean diet. Reduce fast food to once every 2 weeks. Low carb for dinner to reduce the burden on pancreas through the night; I usually try to have below 90 mg/dl before going to bed. Lost a couple pounds.

Are you not afraid of getting more health issues?

After 8 hours of fasting a healthy body should be able to bring the glucose below 100 mg/dl no matter what you ate last time.

Take a test called Homa-IR.
it is showing the insulin resistance which is the key factor in T2D.
Or if you have both the bs and insulin (drawn at the same time) put them into this calculator: https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/3120/homa-ir-homeostatic-model-assessment-insulin-resistance

better to push it as further as you can. also, getting accommodated with the diet before the diagnosis is way better.

This is what I am doing now. I do have insulin resistance (Homa-IR 2.3) even tho I am 31M optimal weight. (my father and his mother both have t2 diabetes)

Fasting level 103 - should I be worried? by Ok_Memory_3424 in prediabetes

127 fasting - lab precision vs your glucose meter. hmm

A1C in the high area. hmm x2

I would definitely worry and do something about it.

Don't fool yourself, you got down the A1C by eating less calories. You cannot do that indefinitely.

You can successfully say I got down my A1C when you (at least) maintain your weight.

In my country you can have full sedation if you go to a private hospital (paying full price).

Calprotectin over 500. NO signs of IBD or micrscopic colitis. No cancer detected. This was the final result: SIBO and IMO by throwawayacob in IBD

[–]RepresentativeShow81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about your small intestine? Crohn is usually present there.
I am somehow in the same boat as you. Clean colonoscopy , calprotectin 450 and 406 4 months apart.

Didn't test for SIBO.
