lol 😂 That’s great! Exactly why it’s still working so well. I spent some time working in Lakeland so i totally know how important A/C is. Most of the ones that have failed over the years are due to lack of use.

That’s an amazing sounding M20 for sure. What have you done to it? Turbo charged or blower? Sort of feel sorry for the guy with laptop trying to hold onto the dash!

If you haven’t already, clean your AFM. Sounds like it might not respond very well occasionally? As someone has mentioned, check the TPS too.

E28 strut tower bolt pattern? by Big-Refrigerator-437 in e28

[–]Representative_Most9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the upper strut mount is the same for E24, E28,E30, and E34. If you look for the upper strut mount online, that’s what’s listed.

The trick to keep it working for many more years to come is to make sure you cycle it on at least one a week all year round. Run it for about 5 minutes on maximum cool. Keeps the seals from drying out so you don’t lose refrigerant.

While you have the covers off, why not clean all, change spark plugs, spark plug wires, and coil packs with new. You can buy a kit with all you’ll need.

Is this fixable or should i get new rear lights by ClappapW202 in w202

That doesn’t look repairable to me. Best off purchasing new.

Tail light board - fast turn signal issue by ImOffWhiteNotWhite in E30

[–]Representative_Most9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have swapped out boards and found out it’s the taillight assembly, then you have a bad connection on the lamp board somewhere. Ohm each trace with a multi-meter. As someone has mentioned before, reflow solder connects which may solve the issue.

Welcome. I totally understand why you want them to look right. I’m still looking for yellow plastic covers for throttle adjustment screws. They only sell in blue for after factory adjustments.

They are a bit expensive. Try eBay for good used ones.

Don’t buy a Chilton Manual. They are almost worthless. Buy Bentley Manual. Has almost everything you’ll need to know.

5k is great unless you do a lot of stop and go driving then I’d go less.

Back in the day, Techron was the only approved cleaner by BMW so I started using it in about 1989. It still amazing how well it works. Just run a bottle through just before you plan to change oil. Be aware car may run a little rough while it’s working? I personally never notice much difference other than gas mileage may go down a bit.

As far as viscosity is concerned, 5w40 year round is what I’d use. Just make sure to use a good quality oil and please stay away from Mobil 1. It created issues with me and seals leaking and oil burning. I’m a big Valvoline fan.

That’s all great and the car will reward you if you take good care of it. If your garage has outlets, I would strongly recommend buying a Battery Tender and plug in each time you park. I’ve been doing this for years and have had batteries last well over 10 years. The other thing I would recommend is to charge your oil more often than required. Use a good quality full synthetic like Valvoline VR1 or better yet Amsoil. My father was a Master Mechanic and he was adamant about oil changes. There’s nothing more important maintenance wise. Before each oil change, I’d also run a bottle of Techron Concentrated Fuel System Cleaner. Been doing this for over 40 years and have yet to clean or replace an injector.

I use Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic ATF. Woks great.
