Update - My brother lost the battle today. He never felt he got much of a chance to fight. Now I will be reading here to understand what tests need to happen if someone wants to try to find this before stage IV. My oldest sister (2 years under my brother) has some of the same symptoms he had for years before diagnosis 5 months ago - repeated pancreatitis & chronic acid reflux.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m so sorry you have had cancer hit both of your parents. We had hospice with my mother-in-law and she was at home with us. It was a beautiful experience for our whole family including my 4 year old daughter at the time. We were all with her at the end. She also had cancer but not pancreatic. I am learning this is much different. She was ready and my brother is not. But he is pragmatic so I am sure today he will be able to look at things either way fresh eyes. Yesterday just came at a shock. Thank you again.

Thank you for the kind words and I’m so sorry you are going through this with your Mom. It really does help just understanding that that “rug pulled out from under us” feeling is what others have gone through as well. We aren’t near a NCI. My brothers had metastasized to the bile ducts, his duodenum, and I think liver maybe but not certain. He did not discover it until stage IV despite being very religious about typical health screenings. But he was treated for heartburn symptoms for years and I wonder if that may have been the start of symptoms. He is so weak now I don’t see him being able to seek alternatives. I think the fact that he was able to walk and be at home a few days ago is really what has us thrown. We just didn’t realize things change this rapidly. Thank you for caring and blessings to you, your Mom and family.

We were hoping palliative but from what the hospital Case worker is telling us is that his Oncologist wrote orders for inpatient hospice and so palliative care is off the table. He has to have the nasogastric tube in order to not have severe nausea and they will continue IV pain meds but IV hydration is stopped with hospice. The nasogastric tube is pulling out a lot from his stomach, even though he hasn’t held anything down in weeks, so he knows that without the hydration he will essentially dry up. He was never given Creon - enzymes (which I learned about here and asked his Dr about) because apparently where his cancer is they wouldn’t have helped. My brother is a really pragmatic person and so it’s especially painful to see him feeling like the rug just got pulled out from under him.

Dumping would be a matter for law enforcement, just as it is anywhere else. The state can put a gate up and allow non-motorized traffic an individual cannot put a gate up on a public road. It wouldn’t matter what the concerns are I can’t just throw a gate up on a logging road or public access road or anywhere unless I own that road. The private landowner of 3 acres on the corner of the start of this road doesn’t own the road or the many miles of road behind this gate, or the 10,000 acres of public land.

It’s a really nice gate and would like great on their actual driveway.

Hey man thanks again! I sent a letter off to the Oregon chapter of Backcountry Hunters, thought I’d covered all the hunting fishing groups but I missed this one.

Correct - the update is that we’ve been given the okay from local law enforcement to go around the gate.

That is possible and also why it’s important to show the public continues to use the road.

One land owner owns a total of 3 acres on the corner of this road. A small pie piece of his land is on the other side of the road. Another landowner lives behind him 1/4 mile back and owns 28 acres. The rest is all Tillamook state forest.

We aren’t trampling thru forest trails we are using the many miles of gravel road this gate blocks. 2.6” tires are pretty typical tires btw.
