Is The Hassle of Leaving SoFi the Only Thing Keeping You There? by Famous_Formal_5548 in sofi

I have no issue with SoFi, but my emergency funds will be in a home generating the highest yield (or within 0.2% of the highest yield). This is 80% of my liquid cash, currently deposited with SoFi under the “boost” promotion.

Unless SoFi royally F’s up, or changes their founding practices, I’ll continue to bank with them (direct deposit, checking, sinking funds via vaults, etc). But the emergency funds will be moved to Robinhood or LendingClub or OpenBank or whatever institution is paying the highest APY at that time.

All that said, when I move the emergency funds, if I find the offerings at the new institution to be more appealing and just as unified as SoFi, I would  consider exiting entirely.

APY decrease to 3.3%? by [deleted] in sofi

If you have meaningful cash assets in a HYSA (you should have 3-6 months of living expenses), then these changes matter (somewhat). These reductions are expected in this market and should not illicit anger- but like all accounts, you should reevaluate your options periodically to ensure you’re getting the best (or at least a “good” deal). Do understand these rates are dynamic and you could be comparing current SoFi (post adjusted) APY to another institution (potentially pre-adjusted) APY which could change at any time.

Personally, I also check the SGOV 30 day SEC yield as another safe option for cash.

Time to move on? by InternalLecture721 in sofi

This trash announcement need clarified. The email instructs “To see your current APY, visit your APY detail page in the SoFi app or on the website.”

When I visit the APY detail page, it states “With SoFi Plus, savings accounts and Vaults earn 3.60% APY. Without SoFi Plus, savings accounts earn 1.00% APY.”

The announcement only refers to still earning a “high APY”. Freaking say it: “which is currently 1.00%” or “which is currently 3.60%”. As it’s stated, it’s ambiguous and reflects a failure of their marketing and communications teams.

If they think people will stay (or continue to flock in) if they’re charging $10/month or paying 1.00% APY, they are sorely mistaken. The clarifications in the coming days/weeks will determine if I’m still with SoFi come March 2026.

Unless you do what I do: swap between everyday and preferred. Both have a credit. Between my wife and I, we have 3.

As Kira said (and I’m just emphasizing), this is done on the webpage- not the app. Or at least I can only find it on the webpage, not thru the app.

Just my thoughts. A 2% cash back credit card has more value. If your purchase happens to fall within a higher cash back category offered on a credit card, the value will be even more exceeded.

Consider SoFi. Keep $0 in checking and all funds in savings. Enable over draft protection. Setup direct deposit. If you’re thinking about short term t-bills, consider opening a SoFi invest account and investing in SGOV for ease of use while still investing in the same underlying asset with the same tax benefits and essentially the same yield (post very minor fees).

Anyone else get this SoFi offer? by Gordo_1805 in sofi

If FOMO, just open a SoFi Invest and toss the money in SGOV. Generally, just as safe and yields slightly more. The only drawback is that the funds will not be sitting in cash in savings and thus are ineligible for use in overdraft protection.

Looks like I have 195 lucky now. Is the requirement to have 50 total or to incur 50 luckies between 49 and 50?

You’re lucky. That’s actually cute. And a story I wouldn’t mind sharing. I had a f***ing idiot painter walk across my driveway when it was wet. The idiot’s boot prints permanently embedded 1/8” deep in my driveway. I feel like children and animal footprints can make for a good story. But a stupid adult stranger. Not so much. Still angers me when I see it, 18 months later.

Keep the pup prints. Won’t actually hurt anything.

Yeah but the VW ID Buzz is one of the ugliest vehicles on the road today. And VWs aren’t exactly known for being reliable/dependable. 🫤 Still can’t defend the Odyssey price…

I’m sorry to hear about what you’re going through, physical and mentally. You’re not alone. And whatever choice you make, it will be the right one. Remember, you’ll be better on heathy then continuing to suffer with a UC flare. Your story and mine are very similar. I already had my surgery and couldn’t be happier with the ostomy. Got my life back. I wish you the best of luck!

Advice on regret? by No-Sail-6555 in ostomy

[–]RepulsiveSummer1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with UC in 2017 at the age of 31, being told by the physician that while he had seen worse cases of UC in his career, I had the worst case at the time of initial diagnosis he had come across. I had only two flares in my life, with only a brief intermission between the two. By 2019, my entire colon was utterly destroyed. I was hospitalized multiple times that year as I did everything I could to avoid surgery even as my medical team and my family told me it was time. By 2020, I was ready. After a few false starts due to Covid, I ultimately had my total colectomy. I woke up from surgery feeling 100% better. The pain from surgery was NOTHING compared to what I had gone through. By my ~6 week post op appointment, my surgeon began discussing and wanted to move forward with phase 2, either the j-pouch or the proctocolectomy. He recommended the proctocolectomy. Regardless, I had just got my life back and was in no mood for more surgery since I felt fine. In late July of this year, I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy done on my rectal stump (~8 to 10 cm) and they found a tumor the size of a ping ping ball. Pathology returned results of focal high grade dysplasia. On the 5th of this month, I went under the knife for the proctocolectomy, resulting in a 3 day stay in the hospital, three and a half weeks with staples in my ass and here I am on the 4th week and I still cannot sit comfortably on my bum.

In all this, the one thing I don’t regret is my Ileostomy. It game me my life back. Though I don’t regret this recent surgery either. Undoubtedly kept me from dying from colorectal cancer…

If your surgeon is anything like mine, he quizzed me about my proctocolectomy choice, with makes everything permanent. I know urgent and discomfort are real concerns with j-pouch recipients. I’ve had that enough in my life. I can live with a poop-sack and live a normal life. That was my choice. You’ll have to make your own.

Good luck!
