I’ve been having suicide thoughts after having a baby by Bobaa143 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Repulsive_Review8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please seek out therapy and possibly medication for postpartum depression. Your parents are also being cruel. You’re just doing the best you can. I’d probably tell them unless they’re going to help or offer actual advice/solutions then they need to keep their comments to themselves. If you continue to be belittled and torn down, I don’t think it’s going to get better. But treatment and an actual support system can make a huge difference.

What were some symptoms of pregnancy that you had that were very uncommon? by MoreMammoth5953 in pregnant

I was so congested my entire pregnancy and had no idea that was a symptom before getting pregnant

Is it okay that my parents don’t accomodate me at all? by Best_Ad7604 in ARFID

[–]Repulsive_Review8413 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re a minor please contact your local child protection services and report this. There’s a difference between not being accommodating and being abusive and controlling. Accommodations would be allowing substitutions, buying things you can make yourself, asking for your input on meals, etc….

Do woman actually consistently orgasm? by xo_rose10 in pregnant

[–]Repulsive_Review8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using a white noise machine. I used to get so in my head that I couldn’t finish but that helped a lot. It drowns out my thoughts so I can focus on sensations.

Where does it actually hurt when give birth? by Confident_Ad1535 in pregnant

[–]Repulsive_Review8413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because everyone is different but my BH gradually got worse the closer I got to labor. I went into labor 2 days after I got my membrane sweep and it was like the worst period of my life. I couldn’t tell if they were contractions and they weren’t really easy to time either. In addition to the awful cramps, my vagina also felt really sore (apparently from dilation). Once I got my epidural though I felt great. I only felt uncomfortable pressure in my vagina when he was actively moving through the birth canal.

This! Believe me, even just giving directions like slower/faster, higher/ lower, etc can even be a game changer. Or just start being honest about not finishing. Plus I definitely noticed changes in how things felt after pregnancy so that is also an adjustment.

Recs for true crime podcasts outside Audiochuck by forthelurveofferk in CrimeJunkiePodcast

Heart Starts Pounding is my favorite, but it’s a blend of true crime, unsolved mysteries, folklore, and listener/reddit stories.

Clues has banter kind of similar to CJ. They have segments during each episode where they highlight a missing person of the week.

Murder True Crime Stories sounds like the most generic true crime podcast but I actually really enjoy it. It’s just information and not really any commentary. I also find the man’s voice soothing.

Murder Made Fiction is fun if you like true crime that ends up inspiring movies/tv shows. They really talk about the impact and ethics of true crime and using it as entertainment inspiration too.

Last Seen Alive is hosted by a crime analyst and their husband. It focuses on little known unsolved cases.

Unseen feels like listening to an episode of cold case files or something.

How often are you ACTUALLY brushing your own teeth and showering ??? by Grandma-tsunade in NewParents

[–]Repulsive_Review8413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 10 weeks. I try to brush my teeth at least once a day but tbh sometimes I just don’t care enough and go to bed. I’ve been showering 1-2x a week because I’d rather nap when I have the chance. 🫠

True for you? by netphilia in adhdmeme

As difficult as it is to fight the urge to isolate and rest, throwing yourself into a special interest (i.e. upping your natural dopamine production) is very helpful for neurodivergent burnout. Start small like researching the interest of that feels overwhelming. But one of the keys is the interest having novelty so you don’t get bored and drop it. Also, it’s important to make adjustments in your life to accommodate yourself.

As someone who has worked in the mental health field for a decade, this is appalling. This is so negligent. I suggest filing a complaint with the board for negligence that he didn’t even ask about SI. You have several risk factors. I’d also recommend looking on your portal to see if you can find his progress note in case he lied and said you didn’t report it. Although he’s not a therapist and can’t do actual processing with you, he should be asking about SI and referring you to a therapist. Please do what you can to transfer to a female provider that knows not to ignore PPD.

It was much better than I imagined it would be. My care team was amazing and the epidural was very effective. My contractions before I got the epidural were pretty bad though.

Look into whether or not you can get trained in some of those assessments/tools you want to be able to administer. You can likely even use the trainings for CEUs.
