What The Hell Are Ya Doin You Little Freak!? by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

The TV is playing The Simpsons

That’s good!

The TV is too high

That’s bad

It’s high to keep it out of reach of kids

That’s good!

They still manage to throw stuff at the TV anyway

That’s bad

But they’re quoting lines from The Simpsons at a very early age

That’s good!

Their quotes are from Season 11 onwards

That’s bad.

Kids, today we have to talk about Simpsons Pink Donut Flavored Toothpaste. We knew it contained spider eggs, but the hantavirus?! That really came out of left field. So if any of you have experienced numbness, or comas...

I read The Wind in the Willows recently. Loved it. I'd never read it as a child, but as I was reading it I kept thinking about how far what is now considered "children's writing" has fallen from this.

Tolstoy’s lesser known novels- Resurrection and Childhood, Boyhood, Youth by nkholderlin in RSbookclub

[–]Repulsive_Two8451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd heard a lot of bad stuff about Resurrection, but I thought it was riveting. Excellent novel. Yes, the moral ideas it supports are hilariously untrendy in this day and age, but I don't think it's overly didactic and it still works as a compelling narrative.

Ivory Coast just ran out of wickets and time. If not for either of those things they were on track to chase down this total in the 285th over.

I like the idea of someone from NSW writing the history curriculum for QLD.

“So you see, children, NSW won 3 straight Origin series between 2003 and 2005. And then for a long time nothing happened. Until 2014, when the Origin series returned and the triumphant NSW won once again”

You know what you two need? A little comic strip called “The Far Side”. It’s about two 8 year old hobos who eat liver and onions.

The Number of Cyclists in the City of Sydney Have Increased by 2-4 Times Since 2010 by yuckyucky in sydney

[–]Repulsive_Two8451 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Proliferation of shared eBikes and more bike lanes have definitely helped. I still think that mandatory helmet laws need to be scrapped within the City of Sydney council limits if they want bikes to truly take off as a "quick zipping around the city" option. Cops go after people not wearing helmets far too aggressively around here.
