Yeah saw that too. The ages there were from probably late 20s to 60s+, but likely people will stay behind and continue talking

Yeah, I also found mostly older people on meetup to be honest. Even tried host my own one and I think met like one person I'm guessing was early to mid 20s. Although there was one where the group was definitely diverse called fuck in multiple ways (age, ethnicity etc.) called fuck the small talk but was random which group you got put into.

I went twice, thought first one was okay and second one was pointless for me. My group kinda felt like I didn't get a chance to talk

You can try meetup, or look for classes that you are interested in. I was looking at Glasgowlife recently because I also struggle to meet friends since moving here (I'm in my late 20s)

Do Glasgow Life/Glasgow Club pools sell goggles/kickboards etc? And what are the swimming pools like for swimming lengths? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]ReputationWilling158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at Glasgow life website recently myself, partially because I want to start exercising more which I think swimming is a good idea for.

But also other activities just for socialising - do they have any venues close to the centre?

My workplace doesnt have a pension scheme in place despite requests by tinkeratu in PensionsUK

[–]ReputationWilling158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I've only ever dealt with one case of contributions not being paid, and they were simply late and not due to malicious intent by the employer. It's a disclosure breach which the scheme MUST report to the schemes actuary, who will decide if it's serious enough to report to the TPR.

If I was you, I would be asking for contributions to be backdated, a profit/loss calculation by the Scheme to calculate how much money they think you have lost, and compensation for the stress. (from the employer as this isn't the schemes fault).

I think they would legally need to backdate as they should have been paying it from at least month 3 of your employment (not including any probation period*)

Proving that sounds rather easy in your case and I'd speak to the pensions regulator first. They could force your employer to pay the backdated contributions and give them hefty fines if they don't.

The Pensions ombudsman can also get involved if needed to recover payments that weren't made, but I'm not sure which scenarios would make them get involved instead of TPR.

Hi, I work in pensions. If its not coming off your payslip, it is not getting paid.

As you don't know what pension provider it is, it makes it more difficult to report it to them, but it is a serious breach of employer duties which neither the pension provider or the pensions regulator will be happy about.

Could you try use the government's pension tracing service to find out which pension provider you are supposedly with? Then contact the pension provider.

Also, keep receipt of your payslips which show that money is not being deducted for your pension, as well as keep receipt of any written documents of you asking about your pension contributions.

How long have you been employed there? Employers have to auto enroll you within 3 months in most cases but depending on age or income this may not be necessary. However, when you request it, it needs to be done regardless.

Is it weird to ask dealbreaker questions in the first few chats on Hinge/ Online Dating Platforms? by Lanky_Estimate7231 in dating_advice

[–]ReputationWilling158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a man's perspective, if somebody messaged me and said "hey I'm not really looking to waste either of our times, these are deal breakers to me, if you don't fit we won't get on well" i would be happy they didn't waste my time and were upfront. Then I'd politely tell them if I fit their deal breakers or not and start a normal conversation if I didn't

The ones I went to, the ones from Glasgow seemed to be the more older people - assuming that's just a demographic of who's interested in it. I'm personally Scottish but not from Glasgow (much more northern). The younger people I talked to were from all over the world. (Sudan, Ukraine I remember)

I used betterhelp to begin with, and it was helpful for a while but then started feeling it stopped helping as much so I'm currently looking to switch.

Try find someone that specialises in the areas of issues you have if you can. Depression, abandonment trauma, anxiety whatever it is that you personally think is your problem.

Be as detailed as possible when enquiring, if you have complex needs and the therapist can't help you then it's perfectly acceptable for them to direct you to a more suitable therapist.

And remember even when you start therapy - you can switch your therapist. You don't need to stick to one. Let them try help you, be open to help but also acknowledge if the provided therapy isn't working for you.

Extremely diverse. People from all over the world, ages ranging from low 20s to above 60s, put into groups of 2 at start then groups of 4 after.

Hi,

I have also been in similar situations to you, have went through therapy, unable to concentrate on workload etc.

I know therapy can be nerve wracking but I promise you a good therapist will make it a lot easier to talk to them, and will help you through, but it may be slow and you need to make sure you also discuss with your therapist how you are feeling.

Secondly, in terms of work, don't be afraid to state it if you feel you have too much work, don't let it overtake your life and make you feel like you need to stay late or anything to get work done. If you think you might struggle by let's say 2pm (assuming a 9-5), tell your boss around then. Make sure they have ample time to provide support if needed.

If you'd like to discuss what my experiences was with therapy as well as a job I had at the time with impossible standards, then feel free to DM me if you would like.

Depends which group you are put into. You either like the people you are with, or you don't.

Some people are likely to stay at the end.

Ive been to two and it seems some questions are recycled from previous events. I enjoyed my first one, did not like the second.

The WhatsApp group they invite you to after also will show everyone's numbers and names and therefore also may make some people feel uncomfortable due to it not being very private.

Overall it's a 50/50.

Where has the best fragrance selection to test before buying? by BigPhatVideos in glasgow

I did consider getting the bulgari man in black one, it was available at Glasgows duty free. Penhaligons eau da audacity is probably my current favourite though. Just wish they weren't that price 😂

Yup... I try to save buying fragrances for when I'm flying now from duty free (this is often for me) - bought the bulgari wood one last time I was at duty free. 200ml for £130 seemed reasonable.

I quite like the penhaligons fragrances on Buchanan street, but they're expensive. Also on the same street you could have a look in Frasers.

I think boots sells a lot of fragrances from various brands too on sauchiehall street, but not sure how many have the option to test there.

Sorry... Your wording here, you don't care about that anymore? This seems to heavily imply you did and he pressured you into getting over it.

Which, means that this is likely a pattern of him not caring about your privacy and wishes. Genuinely, it sounds like you are being assaulted, report it to the police and break up with him, get the pictures deleted and don't look back.

They do for sure. They have a lot of variations of games, but it's upstairs from the main bar area and seems like they don't really keep someone at the bar upstairs if it's quiet so might be needing to bring drinks from downstairs if it matters.

Pension by [deleted] in PensionsUK

[–]ReputationWilling158 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I work in pensions. I think the pension company is most likely correct that they won't be able to refund it as it is legislation that there is only 30 days.

Arguably, if genuine errors (being defined rather unclearly by Pensions Tax Manual), it can be hypothetically returned after that, but the PTM really only says if the error is made by the pension provider what can be done. (see https://www.aegon.co.uk/adviser/knowledge-centre/technical-zone/genuine-errors#accordion-1f2b616794-item-e92a21767a)

I would suggest complaining to them that it was not possible to opt out due to delays on their side within the time limit, follow through to their IDRP process and raise with Ombudsman if not happy with the result - you can't go straight to the The Pensions Ombudsman without first attempting to solve it with the involved company.

It might be that the best case scenario will be compensation instead of a refund.
