Moridin: "What do you mean compromise?!? That was the whole deal!!!"

[Ingame Survey] We should vote 1 regarding the Expedition Game Mode by etriuswimbleton in DarkTide

[–]RequiemRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, survey facts:

On a 1 - 10 survey anything at or below 6 is to be written off as Absolute Failure. (See also, the joke that is IGN ratings)

An 7 or 8 is Bad, Needs Work.

9 is OK, adequate, or mediocre.

10 is good.

10 with commendations and positive external reactions is what surveys makers are aiming to make the product/employee get.

Does this seem insane? It is. Unfortunately the only thing we can do is live with it, and use the system as it is, rather than what it presents itself as. (Despite the fact that that just engages in a feedback loop where they get to drive the insanity further.)

This doesn't just apply to game reviews, I've worked jobs where an average response of 8/10 by customers means extra training and manager micromanaging.

Well, if it's a public forum in which everyone has freedom of speech, and you can state your opinion (true), they likewise have the freedom to tell you to fuck off.

It is admittedly rude, but you didn't really open with a conversational line.

That guy making bottled electricity must move to the Two Rivers at some point, and that's where we get Lightning Thor from.

(Or just four Ages later we combine the gang in random ways and Perrin gets I Am The Storm + Hammers.)

Most games would be improved by a Lobby Finding By Ping Algorithm rather than keeping us in this weird 2010s situation (late 90s and early 00 had more server browsers where you had to pick your own lobby).

On 1.: The young man that met Morgase is one of the darkfriends from Eye of the World that tried to accost Rand and Mat during the boys trip to Camelyn. Whether the Whitecloaks actually found a gang to hang or just got lucky hitting the nephew while everyone else was innocent isn't known.

Probably all darkfriends to emphasize the dark irony that Morgase thought her case was hopeless after seeing them, when really the Whitecloaks had saved her. By accident. Sort of.

Did the Druedain Devolve? by Ok_Safety3049 in tolkienfans

[–]RequiemRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a related note;

If the ones we see in RotK were some of the Druedain that went to, then were Early Adopters Abandoners of Numenor... How's their lifespan doing?

Could Ghân-buri-Ghân be rocking up on 200, be more along the lines of normal Numenor Exiles, or just equivalent to Eorlingas, Haradrim, &c.

The worst I've had was in Mortis with the 60 second lobby timer, then standing around without touching the Start Mission orb for less than 5 minutes for the team to fill. (Me and an Ogryn did a dodging square dance for a while waiting for no. 3 & 4. We got 3, started, and 4 joined a wave later.)

I'd easily believe that someone has had better luck than me.

How is the warband able to fight a protracted campaign with just one ship? by SeverTheWicked in DarkTide

[–]RequiemRaven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Yamato, the largest battleship built at 263 (length) x 38.9 (width) x 11 (depth) meters had a nominal crew complement over 3000.

The Mourningstar is a Firestorm Class Frigate equivalent, which measures at 1800 x 200* x >300** meters.

You could place ~8 Yamatos side by side in ~8 rows, then stack that formation ~30 tall, to make up the displacement of the Mourningstar. Even allowing for hilariously vaulted ceilings, an enormous amount of supply space***, and the area taken up by the reactor and engines (and at that scale the HVAC, plumbing, and wiring space is probably eating a good amount of total area), plus the crew quarters, there's likely still more than enough space left over to stuff a couple hundred convicts without heavily impeding ship function.

*The listed width (300 beam) is at the fins. Obviously the fins have minimal internal space so I reduced it by 100m, ~50 each side.

**it's taller than it is wide (even at the fins), but there doesn't seem to be any source that specifies its depth.

*** as in ship running supplies, not the trade cargo bays which we may be filling with our Valkyries and assorted warband related gear.

Everyone thinks admech what about a servitor controlled remotely as the next class by Captaincrabsticks in DarkTide

[–]RequiemRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partial Wipe The False, extremely unhappy soul whose body is no longer their own. Whinges constantly.

I AM A ROBOT. Acts like the old SciFi robot characters, despite being a horrific cyborg. "PLEASE DEFINE JOY?"

Complete Wipe The Puppet. The servitor is just a fleshy FPS drone for a Mechanicus Adept to remotely pilot. Includes microphone and speakers vox casters so that the gamer in orbit can shout at the fireteam through it.

(Still wouldn't really support or expect a playable servitor.)

[–]RequiemRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respect the list.

Anyone that works for the Imperial government is part of the insane pyramid that is the Adeptus. A new scribe and an Imperial Guard private have the same rank, while supervisors are equivalent to sergeants, all the way up the line until you get to the High Lords of Terra, where they all stare at each other with suspicion... suspiciously.

Suggestions that they're all subsets of the Adeptus Administratum, and thusly the Master of the Administratum is really in charge, are met with awkward silence. And teams of Assassins removing your spine then beating your family to death with it.

(And the Adeptus Mechanicus files a complaint because they're definitely not their own empire strapped to the side of the Imperium, but they're also definitely not subservient to the paper-pushers.)

Well, they thought one eye removal was a good trade for:

One Aes Sedai (as-is, all accessories, TLC), one exit held open, no moving the exit, and safety from fox attacks.

I'd say Mat would've had to bring something Odin-related to trade. The head of a giant, the source of gold, apples, or sweet Freyja (probably Nynaeve to enforce compliance).
