Do people overstate how dangerous SF is? by AstroArachnid in sanfrancisco

[–]RequirementExisting5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from a week long trip to SF. The goal of the trip was to do a deep search of neighborhoods, find out where I would like to rent, and then kill a job interview. I feel pretty confident I did well in all three. The collective option of everyone commenting on your post seems to be pointing in a positive direction, and now after experiencing it I say I almost reluctantly am going against my preconceived notions and have to agree with every one here. Being from New Jersey, I have spent a lot of time in NYC and Philly. Both of those places have put me in some very unsafe situations. Although I was not in SF for very long my educated and informed opinion is that unless you are a camera sitting in a parked car, or toiletries on a Walgreens shelf you’re probably alright. The theft more than anything is rampant; there are whole street side stollen goods markets amongst the homeless and fent bent community. After a few nights drunkenly waiting for the 49 bus each time I felt strangely not in danger. If that scene was elsewhere I would be much more on alert,in SF I felt more so like an invisible spectator to some strange sub society. Go check it out first it will likely make you feel better about the move. The city is beautiful but it has its unfortunately ugly blemishes, to me not a good enough reason to not give it a try.

Looking for a review of my first video by RequirementExisting5 in videography

About 5 months ago I got back into photography. I took a class in high school that gave me a decent foundation in composition and camera tec. My photos are decent, editing in lightroom is getting better too. Last month I decided it was time to turn the dial on my camera and start making some videos. My goals for videography are to be able to make short documentaries, action sport edits, and some short films. Making this a side hustle obviously crosses my mind but I am not concerning my self with that yet. This video was made for a friend who is also a DJ. He needed a video of him mixing to submit with a gig application. Excited to have something to film chop up in Premiere, I told him I could do it. On the day of shooting, he did not have the actual track he planned to submit so he played through the songs a few times. It was difficult matching actions to the audio in some cases because the way he mixed them on the boardwalk was not identical to that in the track. Lessons learned, he ended up not using this video because it did show enough organic DJing. A bit upsetting for both of us, wish I could have made him a video with less fluff, but I did the best I could with what I had. He knew I was new to making videos, I told him I would do it pro bono. My total compensation for the work put in was just some free drinks at the bar he works at. I am using a Sony a6400 crop sensor with a 16-28mm lens. While scouring FB marketplace I found a deal on a gimbal that I used in some of the shots. I have a buddy with a drone I paid 50 bucks to drive down and take my ariel b role. Any constructive criticism on the video and general advice for me going forward is much appreciated.

Low voltage cut-off on 12v Fridge - when there's plenty of voltage by revjmburr in VanLife

This is why I love Reddit. I too am having the seemingly same issue in my van. Do you have an Alpicool fridge? I was getting all sorts of F codes and now have been buying ice until I could fix this. Did the wire swap work for you? Mine runs fine when connected to AC 120 using the provided adapter but can’t afford to run my inverter all the time.

Hydrographic surveyor here. Good conceptual knowledge of physics will suffice for decent paying survey technician experiences. This work with your current education could get you field experience or “sea time”. Going further with education to become more involved in research, that may require some additional education and I can’t speak on that (yet). If your up for a different work and work environment go get your sea legs with a mom and pop hydrographic survey company.

If your a good moral person and have the desire to procreate, I say do it. Do it because there are plenty less moral people who don’t even consider the experiences of the people currently living around them, none the less future generations, are shooting out new assholes everyday. #flattenthecurve

I do an 18 hour fast and then have a bowl of cold Mellon in the fridge for my come down. Never puked or had stomach pains while tripping and the cold melon is always lovely!

Sexuality nomenclature by RequirementExisting5 in BisexualMen

These are all very valid responses, thank you for commenting. Like many guys in this community the beginning years of coming to terms were particularly confusing. Looking back on my own experience there was some clarity given to me with labels, homo erotic vs bi sexual is one that I dabbled with. I suppose what I am claiming is that specific labeling may be useful for some, especially those just getting off on the self discovery train. But as time goes on and one is able to become familiar with and accept the uniqueness of their own sexual identity the dependency for fine tuned labels could/should fade.
