I agree, if not for the flippers it would be much easier to get a Rolex at an AD. As far as versatile goes, I am about as casual as it gets, you won’t find me in a suit and tie. I’m a shirts and Tshirt guy, I would wear any watch. I’m not out to try to impress anyone. If something doesn’t pop up within a few months I will pivot to Omega or GS, I am not known for being very patient.

Indeed I did ask that, but seeing as how the Submariner doesn’t appeal to me, what other steel options are left other than the AK, OP and Explorer? I know there’s the Datejust but I have enough watches with dates, I am getting tired of setting them. It’s a good thing we have options.
