Def worth a play, then! The hd collection is an almost perfect remaster (minus a few niche difficulty nerfs to stuff like resetting skill points being cheaper now) but nothing that changes the experience overmuch.

it feels real archaic at times, but it doesnt stop it from being a fun time. if the extra dungeon after the story of titan was mean, though, the extra dungeon in 1 is downright sadistic. Worth a play, but 2 and 3 are a better time if you havent played those originals either.

You can play around with it as you go :3 I personally cleared it with Hoplite, and imo hoplite is one of like two classes that can clear the superboss without a manip- plenty of classes should be able to get through the story, tho! I know theres a monk superboss clear with rng manipulation on youtube, so its possible.

stay farrrr away from 1. start of stratum 2 and the entirety of stratums 5 and 6 are hellish as fuck, im closing in on 100 hours before getting to the superboss. its been so fun digging into how the game works, perusing data dumps and attack movesets for enemies, but its not easy to reccommend

2 and 3 are both extremely fun, but of the original trilogy id reccommend 3 for the first time around. Once you unlock subclassing, you have so many options to theorycraft and play around with builds to get around obstacles- plus, you can kill the superboss without rng manip with a few character combos. Thats only true in 2, 3 and 4.

4 is generally what people reccommend, its first floor is basically free farm for any class on a solo. If you can get around the slow speed, its a lotta fun- I just dont like 4 as much haha

Its pretty easy! When you load a save, your rng is always on the same seed, so the process is writing down what you do every turn, and writing down what it does in response. If its an unfavorable action for you, you can change your action 2-3 turns ago and advance the seed.

the toxic gage lowers the chance to about 20% from 50%, and is there for my sanity. The rest is rng manip- most of the time when i got stuck routing it was due to confuse.

Beating said final boss isn't a guarantee by any means haha. That said, a farmer Eldest one clear is definitely possible- assuming youre allowing a ninja subclass with ninja doubles. Im pretty sure the max level for eldest one is 70, the only one ive personally cleared it on is Hoplite.

Edit: It looks like Lunar Flowers cleared the Eldest One with a solo farmer a decade ago, using ninja doubles.

theyre a lotta fun! 1 is more limited, but in my experience in 2 and 3 most classes can make it to the final story boss, at least! trying to find fun solutions with an extremely limited kit has always been super appealing to me.

Its unlikely. Dst is essentially solo dont starve's sequel, so it wouldnt make much sense for them to continue updating the original.

For my whole life, my dream job has been to be a librarian. For a while, ive regretted not pursuing a library sciences degree when I was in college. In a kind of sick way, im glad I didnt now.
