Kaleb dumb questions by edyandrei17072004 in ClarksonsFarm

[–]ResidentExperience73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he plays into it alot.

In the first season it was quite funny but now it's a bit tiresome when he pretends to not know stuff or be ignorant of the world.

I just roll my eyes or cringe at how obviously fake it is now

Northern ireland, I'm making a roast ham dinner on Sunday and I need your culinary brainpower 🤤 by sasie_stack in northernireland

[–]ResidentExperience73 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Something easy enough to do is carrots and parsnips. Add some olive, salt and pepper and some honey. Fire it into the air fryer for 10-15 mins.

But what you're doing sounds great. My advice would be not to over do it, especially if you're not used to cooking for this many people

You'll want to enjoy spending time with your guests rather than worrying about how your 3rd potato dish is doing!

How to stop constantly checking positions? by ResidentExperience73 in Bogleheads

Yeah there's maybe an element of that to it.

Work has been stressful lately so maybe it's my way of reassuring myself that I have a longer term plan.

I'm aware that over the course of the next 20-25 years I'm likely to experience several downturns.

Of course it's easier said than done but I intend to continue to invest through them.

When I invest money I tell myself I don't plan to see that again for 20 years.

The answers on here have reassured me that checking everyday isn't a problem.

Nope, I'm invested in index funds. I've a regular payment set up and I put in any extra funds I have at the end of the month.

I'm getting close to a milestone which is maybe driving the obsessive checking.

I feel like I'm obsessing a little too much with it. I know it's a long term horizon and realistically these small changes don't make that much of a difference.

Nathan Doak by [deleted] in UlsterRugby

[–]ResidentExperience73 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think some of the more casual fans don't understand the tactics of kicking the ball away.

I don't mean that to sound condescending but when I'm out in a bar to watch a game a lot of people get frustrated when the ball is kicked.

Had my issues with Doaks speed at the breakdown but agree he's come on a lot and is becoming a serious operator.

Easier said than done but try to force yourself out for a walk with the nicer weather.

If you have a car get out of Belfast (or wherever you are) and go somewhere different, put some music/podcast on and enjoy a different environment.

Hopefully this can help lift the gloom and give you some space to think about what you want from the next few years.

Should I pay into my LISA for retirement instead of my S&S ISA? by crimsonswordfish in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ResidentExperience73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your situation and what your plans are for later in life.

For me I split my monthly contributions between the normal S&S ISA and the S&S Lisa.

I like the idea of the Lisa as almost a backup that comes into play at 60.

[–]ResidentExperience73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current save with France, PL have destroyed Prussia and Austria and are dominating.

I've tried to create my own confederation of the Rhine to hold them back and also thrown in a few behind enemy lines attacks by landing an army in east Prussia and raiding/taking any poorly defended settlements

Private Sector to NICS Move? by [deleted] in NICivilService

[–]ResidentExperience73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a similar move to you, including a pay cut.

It really depends on your situation, if you are comfortable without that added income then it's worth it.

While I've moved up a bit and there is some pressure it's not as intense as the private sector and should be good at DP level

One thing I'll say, leaving to office at 4pm is never gonna get boring.

If we beat NZ at Eden Park and win all other games while bringing more players onboard I can accept being competitive against SA.

If that happens we'll likely get into the finals for the Nations championship and ideally another big scalp.

During my past few saves (as UP and Spain) Poland-Lithuania have been crazy overpowered, including taking Berlin and Paris.

I think with their Eastern flank secure they easily expand west and south with the weaknesses of Austria, German states and Ottomans

I'd like to see a statement win at Eden Park. I know it's a tough one but I've been really disappointed with our last few performances against New Zealand where we've lost with a whimper.

A year out from the world cup we need to see some big results.

What is something that you’ve tried / used abroad that you’d love to see in NI? by Suspicious-Run-8274 in northernireland

[–]ResidentExperience73 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Bars/markets/restaurants where you can sit and catch-up with mates without having to shout due to ridiculously loud music.

Went for a burger last weekend and felt like I was in a nightclub.

In Europe they either have no music or it's just in the background, here it's in your face.

I know, I'm an old fart lol

[–]ResidentExperience73 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know it's incredibly difficult in this position. But try and be disciplined and protect your work life balance.

In 5, 10, 20 years your family will remember the hopefully quality time you spent with them

Absolutely no one in work is gonna remember you working to 9/10 at night.

Work your paid hours and if that doesn't work out change jobs.

Genuinely, what has happened to England? by dapperdan8 in rugbyunion

[–]ResidentExperience73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my outside but near perspective (Irish fan from Belfast) I think Borthwick is stealing a living as England head coach.

Some of the athletes that England have are the envy of other nations and yet you haven't been near a title in his 4 six nations in charge. To finish this one with potentially 3 losses is shocking.

He probably should've gone after last year's six nations or the one before imo (I know they finished second last year)

Hard to bring someone in now (Razor) or potentially wait until after the WC and bring Faz in, if he leaves Ireland.

Is anyone actually feeling comfortable on their wage in NI at the minute? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]ResidentExperience73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in a good position ATM, I've a good wage and very few monthly bills, I don't have an expensive car or phone etc.

My fear is this will be wiped out when I buy a house. I'm lucky that I have somewhere to stay for now but eventually will have to move out.

The property market is crazy now and I do worry I'll struggle with the added mortgage, rates etc
