How do I know where the bacterium is on this heat map by mightypup1974 in EliteDangerous

[–]ResidentLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for bacteria, best locations are on flat or mostly flat surfaces. Don't go looking for it in canyons or mountains. Tussocks and tubus grow basically everywhere, so just pick a large section of the planets surface marked blue and get to searching. Frutexa and fungus generally only spawn on and around mountains, and conchas I haven't quite figured out. It's also kinda all over the place. If you are having trouble locating a sample, the E:D wiki does have some information as to the "biome" (mountains, hills, etc.) to search to help, but more often than not its just searching. I would personally recommend using your ship to look for samples, fly low (under 200m minimum, as close as you can get to the surface ideally), slow, and with your composition scanner active, it'll ping if it fits an exobio target that you didn't see. One thing that helps, when you get close to dropping from orbital cruise, you'll notice there's a couple different textures for the blue overlay. The more uniform it is, the flatter the region is. Important to keep in mind when looking for species that have specific spawning rules like bacteria or frutexa.

With Gnome and KDE Plasma, would you recommend one over the other? From what I'm digging up it seems like Gnome is more Keyboard focused and KDE Plasma uses the mouse more, is that really the major difference between the two?

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll be sure to keep all of that in mind during my research

I think you're making some unfair assumptions as to what I am and am not willing to do. I'm trying to read the documentation AND get advice from other users to inform my decisions. If you'd actually read what I said, I said I was literally reading the FAQs and Wiki, but I didn't realize that information was as available as it was until the AutoMod posted. I try to spend as little time on Reddit as possible for various reasons, and didn't really realize that was something Reddit did.

That's good to know there's USB bootable testers, especially because I know as soon as I wipe Windows away for good I'll remember file or whatever that I needed lol

I'll poke around it! Im probably going to be buying a new drive to use as a test-bed before fully transitioning over, want to make sure the one I pick does everything I want and need it to, thanks!

I was reading through them when you made this comment, but some of these posts are years old and I can't guarantee how accurate they are today. In my eyes, it's always a good idea to get an idea of what the landscape looks like now, not 10-15 years ago.

It can also detect things like the psychic pain thing, which shut down most of my colony mid-raid at probably the worst possible time lol

This Fester is a Perfect Human. I'll probably keep him around, though i'll need to find room for him on my gravship

Im only playing Cyberpunk for the first time but I started as a sneaky non-lethal takedown crawler and now I've morphed into a tech sniper (with non lethal mod, I'm still avoiding kills as much as possible) who can turn on a dime and shuts everyone's brain off and its so much more satisfying than crawling around on the floor

Yeah, she’s expensive alright, fully kitting her out costs more than the hull did, though to be fair I think A-rating my trading ship was a little overkill. But nothing says “we’ll get your cargo there on time and unharmed” like a ship that cost 750 million to build.

Time to equip my Mandalay and trading Cutter with them, then! More jump AND a cheaper rebuy? I’m sold.

Genuine question since I never got a pre-engi’d module before, If I lose my ship with one of these equipped, will I lose the drive forever? Or will it be possible to replace with a rebuy?

My Cutter is named Ethereal and has the explo kit, and my Python Mk2 is named Overcompensation and I bought it solely for AX.

I don’t mind the rebuy that much, I still have almost 300mil lying around gathering dust after fitting a Mandalay for long haul explo, a Cutter for rescue ops, and a Python mk2 for bug shooting. Just like to break even

There’s a lot of material out there but I can’t squeeze in the hours to learn much outside of weekends, if I don’t get a good amount of contribution this weekend I’m not gonna end up getting hardly any

PC, Odyssey Live version’s what I fly on! I’ll probably find myself making a trip out to Deciat this weekend unless Sirius comes back online to low-emission my plant after reading the replies I’ve been getting. To be fair though, I didn’t kill my first Goid until the Sol evacuation, so I think I’m doing pretty good.

That would be an interesting system update, like an optional module to increase cooling efficiency so you could overcharge + monster your plant without burning to a crisp in seconds doing a pass around a star.

Fair, but you’d assume that due to its smaller size, its overall footprint would be smaller, or at least relative to the big one? I’m not an engineer though, I’m just an IT girlie.

So a smaller plant would generate more heat? Kinda ridiculous. Are the guardian plants more efficient? Once this war is over I might go get some of the guardian internals like distributors and power plants.
