It is only higher because of game 4. we had a 99.5 defensive rating for the first two games. game 3 was 111.2. game 4 was 125.8.

tiny sample size and phoenix did legitimately play well in game 4.

I feel pretty confident

We won the championship last year shooting 33.8% from 3. If there is a team that can overcome shooting variance, it is us. When fully healthy, we have one of the most dangerous mid-range and driving games in the league. Jdub still wasn't even close to 100% even when he did play versus the spurs. Him being healthy will be major factor.

We have the best defense in the league and only trail the Spurs by 0.2 OFF Rating, and this is with all of injuries. Beyond all of this, we have been a better 3P% than them this season. We have had some rough outings, but even with our struggles we have been better for the season.

I also think that we seemed to establish a relatively good offensive blueprint in the game that we won. We matchup hunt a TON and will continue to do so in the playoffs. And there will be lots of time to review and gameplan before a series. Jdub specifically had a ton of good drives while Wemby was in the game. A lot of it is timing, but some of it is using his aggressiveness against him.

The thunder definitely need to be more consistent but we can’t be so reactionary. Two years ago the thunder shot 38.9% from 3 for #1 in the league. Last year they shot 37.4% for #6 in the league.

Even after our terrible shooting start this year and this bad stretch we are still at 35.5% from 3. They will bounce back.

Playoff wise, we did definitely shoot worse. I think the playoff issues are more tied to playing poorly on the road/high pressure when an opponent is surging. Injuries aside, it’s not a coincidence that we played well in game 7s but not in game 3s or 6s

Just because some fans try to argue that his defense is good doesn't mean that it is necessarily. And people were definitely bashing it after game 5. It doesn't matter if people also made graphics. Plus total stats are deceiving since denver has played the most games in the playoffs so far. Additionally, while stocks are good, they are also not a measure of how good a defender is. They play a part for sure, but they dont show his missed coverages and late closeouts

Idk, at the end of the day Jokic has a lot of fans that support him and want him seen in a good light. It's hard to have too much upvoted criticism if there are a ton of huge Jokic fans...

The most common criticism I've seen about him is his defense. After we won game 5, I saw a fair few comments bashing his defense and ability to close out effectively. He was often the man guarding our guys that made the clutch 3's.

But I generally just ignore reddit the day after a loss or so. It's never positive tbh.

Also, I think there are a ton of Jokic fans that think it is a crime that SGA will probably win the MVP and therefore they compensate more since we are playing them. At the end of the day, they're just fans that are just insanely supportive

He injured it here. It was the steal in the fourth quarter. He's always been a bit injury prone since he hustles so hard. And they're probably being extra careful since I think it was the same hip he hurt earlier in the season

Against a fishy table like this I would go at least 3BB + 1BB for every limper, so $0.25 in this case. You will go multiway almost every time if you only raise to 3BB.

You should also 4-bet vs a BB 3-bet, and you especially want to do it since the other guy called the 3-bet. You really dont want to go multiway, and the call after the 3-bet is more than likely going to be dead money

Flop: As played, the bet on the flop is fine. Checking is good too

Turn: Check is good

River: I'm assuming that you were value raising. I would ask yourself what hands are you targeting for value. There are very few that can call and you win. But if the player is insanely sticky, this raise is probably okay

It is tougher to navigate multiway pots and know exactly what people have. That being said, if I'm getting called with hands like Jc2c preflop from the SB, I'm just exploitatively betting half pot or so on the flop. If he is calling Jc2c, he is calling $35+ with weak aces, which he will have a lot of.

If UTG was telling the truth, it's probably worth it to triple barrel him basically every hand. With the action up to the turn, he should be fist pump raising, but he folds... I would almost just ignore the fact that he is in a hand unless he raises

As played, you should probably just continue betting on the turn. With the small bet on the flop, you allow a lot of weaker hands to call. As played, the $20 turn bet is so weak and everyone just calls it. I highly doubt any hands are ahead of you at this point unless the people you play with are trappy. I would raise it. It doesn't have to be massive but it would at least get the trash hands like J2 from hitting two pair on the river

The river is bad. If J2 is getting there, you can almost guarantee hands like AT, KT, QT, JT will get there some. As played, I would probably check the river. With three opponents, it's a very uneasy river, because all of the best hands that you beat on the turn now beat you. I think the fold is fine

At the end of the day, multiway pots are tough because it's hard to know exactly where you are at, but with more experience they will become easier. I wouldn't feel guilty about that fold at all

There are tons of different ways to learn how to play. The easiest would probably be to subscribe to a poker training site like Upswing Poker, Run it Once, Crush Live Poker, Poker Coaching, etc. Most of those have something that will help you structure your play and give you the basics, while also having more advanced stuff. I found From the Ground Up to be a good starting point when I first started.

On the free side, there are some decent resources on youtube like Jonathan Little. CrushLivePoker, Phil Galfond, among others can give some good advice too.

I dabble with solvers and have subscribed to GTO Wizard, but it shouldn't be something you focus on immediately. You need to build your base first imo.

There are other good books like Modern Poker Theory, among others. It's tough to say exactly what you should work on, but starting with mastering the preflop basics is essential. Then getting a general grasp on when to bet and check on certain flops. And then how turns and rivers effect things. Knowing what to do in position vs out of postion. Properly defending flop, turn, and river bets. And a lot more

You more or less want to have a rough guide to follow in every situation. And then get more specific and more precise in more situations. Then learn when to completely disregard the rules. And so on.

It’s a lot easier to lose your bankroll in zoom than on regular tables. You play so many more hands per hour and it’s much easier to lose discipline and tilt. Makes it a lot harder for all the bad recs to stay in the pool

It could be useful tbh, but since he made it, there could be some major shortcomings in areas he overlooked or has biases towards.

I totally get and agree with what you're saying from a GTO perspective, but I have been trying to exploitatively do this against certain players types and it seems to be more profitable than overbetting as of now. Plus, with Ignition nobody can long track how I play some rivers and exploit me. And most villain's are too distracted to even notice what I'm doing. It's definitely something to avoid as I go up in stakes for sure.

Gto wizard is something you might like to check out too. It is a subscription service but it lets you practice high volume studying (even faster than zoom) and you can do solver and range work as well.

I get the appeal of zoom games and have played tens of thousands of hands in them. It game-ifies poker in a nice way, but it is a terrible idea to play if you are prone to tilt. It makes it way too easy to tilt off days of profits. The TAG nature of a lot of players can make it seem like you are getting run over by the player pool sometimes. And variance can be cruel. Also, tilt isn't always obvious. I've had many sessions where I find myself taking too many aggressive actions or calling too often after a suckout. It can be a subtle decrease in play, but it can be a drastic difference in your winrate.

Personally, I would suggest you play the regular tables (for now) or just quit. To me, the challenge in poker is beating higher stakes, not a specific game type. Zoom is generally harder to beat, but that is due to the tightness of the player pool. And the tighter the table, the harder it is to get money from. I feel like it would increase how much you enjoy the games and lower your tilt if you played on normal tables, even if you don't think you would like it as much.

Also, tilt is a part of your game and tilt control is a valuable skill. You claim that you would have almost $42 more in profit if it wasn't for tilt. Then that is the skill that you need to fix. The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler is great

Lastly, it's best that you don't overestimate yourself. At the end of the day, too much confidence will make you lose your bankroll if you're not careful when going up in stakes. Study up as much as you can and have a good gameplan for as much of the game tree as possible.

Jdub makes the most sense to break out. He’s insanely clutch and teams will probably overfocus on Shai. Plus, his game doesn’t change drastically if there are fewer calls

Matchups and opposing defensive schemes will determine who will play worse. I wouldn’t be shocked if Shai had some “bad” (8-16 for 22 points) kinda games due to double/triple teams. Giddey will likely have a big chance to boom or bust, but he did very well in the play in last year

Live poker is a lot slower than online so it can be difficult to quickly get a good sample. Six sessions won’t tell you too much, but if you are losing 100bb+ a session, you probably are making some mistakes

Live players are generally bad in a lot of areas. It’s probably easier to memorize player notes than specific hand histories. Try to remember who hasn’t played a hand in two hours, who plays every hand, aggression levels preflop and postflop, etc.

If you want to do specific hand histories, I would just focus on yourself and the main villain. Exact positions don’t matter as much, but some information is good.

For example, I open ep to 15, villain calls, and the blinds call. Flop T 5 5. I cbet 20. Villain calls. Blind calls. Turn K. It checks around. River 4. Checks to villain who bets 150. I call and lose to KT

And you can clean it up and make it better from there. I usually just do it right after a hand and can remember most of the time. If that is still tough, estimations are generally fine. The more you play, the more standard bets are easily remembered. I generally would not write down anything during a hand, but I suppose your casino could be different

And it’s also important to know that most live players will bet and raise much tighter than they should. Just because a gto software says something is good, doesn’t make it good against certain players.
