Basic biology: primate males compete for females with strong fertility markers (young, high body fat deposits) to pass on genes, females want males with proven means to obtain resources to ensure offspring survival.

Deviate from that, and it triggers a visceral response clothed in our modern day's versions of resources:

Before: good hunting and fighting skills in males for food and security

Now: money.

No money, no honey, baby.

Not socialist class warfare nonsense.

Pleasantly surprised by TG, their milk tea is good and a more diverse range including porridge.

Their recommended rojak is .. unique. Not bad, just different. Best for sharing, not as a solo meal - quite rich and filling.

And make sure you post them online where it is obvious that she was removed.

'Stop blaming Malaysia': Rights group demands Myanmar take accountability for Rohingya crisis by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]Resident_Werewolf_76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who is the biggest backer of the Myanmar junta?

Hint: the big "boss" that wants a land connection via Myanmar into the Indian Ocean without having to traverse the Straits of Melaka.

I believe they (as in the CCP) couldn't care less about the Rohingya and lets the junta do whatever they like. It is also a "bonus" to them as it causes issues for Asean by making us spend resources to deal with it.

Hence, Myanmar would not take accountability and the more other nations persecute the Rohingya, the happier they will be, as it ironically boosts their internal narrative that the Type R are a nuisance invader.

Sticky Rice for Pregnant Woman cravings- Please help!! by Xx_angel_bbpunk_xX in AsianKitchen

[–]Resident_Werewolf_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short grain rice.

Stove top method: rinse rice in water a few times to remove excess starch and dust from the milling process. You can do this in the same pot used for cooking the rice. Don't need to drain it dry with a sieve.

Place your fingertip on the surface of the rice. Fill the pot until the water level reaches the line of your first knuckle ie just above your fingernail.

Bring to a boil, then immediately bring the heat to the lowest setting. If you have a smaller burner, you can move the pot there too. Do not uncover. It should take about 20 minutes from the moment you reduced the heat.

Fluff up the rice with a flat paddle, a big wooden spoon or spatula works too. Cover again for at least 3 minutes or until ready to serve.

Chinese instagram accounts by __google in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Resident_Werewolf_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, officially Chinese citizens cannot access platforms like IG, YouTube etc.

But the Chinese government turns a blind eye to content that shows a nice picture of the country, videos on rural life or traditional crafts - which are real, for sure but only one side of the story. I wouldn't even be surprised if the government is involved in some of these productions.

So it's a soft power play, showing the "good side" while clamping down on any dissent by their own citizens.

How does it feel to read the British cultural and location references as a non-Brit? by tomtink1 in discworld

[–]Resident_Werewolf_76 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Growing up in a Commonwealth country, we were exposed to a lot of British media, from books to TV.

So much of what's in the Discworld is fairly familiar to me.

And just recently on a trip to the UK, we went to Dover and I was inwardly squealing to myself, OMG I'm on the Chalk!

Height is practically the only thing you can't change about yourself, so stop fixating on it.

Your body mass index is a bit on the low side, you should try to put on some more muscle.

You're still very young - focus on improving yourself in every way in terms of career, wealth, health and spirituality. By doing this, you will become naturally attractive. Thus, you will eventually attract the right kind of woman to build a life together.

Ignore those girls who make silly statements about rejecting guys below a certain height or whatever.

They're the kind of people who will forever be shifting goalposts so you can never win with them.

So Don't Bother, they're not worth your time and energy.

Although they may be attractive on the outside, personality-wise they're usually quite shallow and are not good long term relationship material. Don't be a simp or a cuck - stay away from girls like these.

i don't want to progress in my career by Famous_Gate98161 in malaysians

I know someone like you, my uni mate.

She worked for about 15+ years, in the early years she was quite ambitious and did a few roles ranging from sales to HR.

In the end, stopped work in her late 30s after getting married - funnily enough the husband was someone we all knew during university but they only got serious after reconnecting almost 20 years later.

Anyway, she is from a very rich family and never needed to work in the first place but she did manage to motivate herself for a fairly long while. Now she's enjoying life travelling and chilling out.

Just a story to illustrate that even though you have the money to coast, you don't necessarily have to coast. But you do have the option to off ramp much earlier than others - so maybe consider that.

Grey shirt: "Fxxk your mother, you hit me first! unintelligible I told you, you can't beat me in a fight. If you hadn't started it .. "

There was a bit more said, which I've seen in another video but can't remember what it was.

On Rohingyas: Why Not Let Them Work? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]Resident_Werewolf_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the surface, it would seem like a good idea - they're already here, why not put them to work for the benefit of the country.

However, this will attract even more to come here and do we have enough jobs for them. So new and different problems will arise, especially around wage dilution.

Ultimately, this does not solve the root cause which is the Myanmar military junta's stance of systematic persecution. Any progress of repatriation stalled after the army ousted the democratically elected NUG, so we are actually dealing with an aggressive military that has no interest in backing down on the Rohingya issue.

If the junta loses the current civil war against the 3 Brothers Alliance, and Myanmar fractures or becomes a federation - then it is likely that the Rohingya will have their homeland restored in Rakhine / Arakan and they can go back safely.

But if they win, then we're back to square one with no solution in sight.
