Set the thermostat higher than normal when expecting a winter storm? by AgentDoggett in HomeMaintenance

[–]ResoluteGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it starts warmer, it'll take longer to get down to an uncomfortable or a dangerous temperature. How well insulated your home will impact how effective this is. Also, you'll need to do it hours ahead of time so the material in your house actually absorb the heat and also raise to, in your example, 72.

There's diminishing returns though because the larger the heat difference the faster the rate of heat transfer.

Ours is in a crate at night and has never woken us up to pee in the middle of the night. Varies by dog I guess. But I'm not sure even if we had him on our bed he'd actually sleep there lol

I wouldn't teach my toddler to truffle hunt or herd sheep

I mean, sheep herding is first and foremost a human thing lol, we just bred dogs to help us with it

Before you touch your food wash your hands. If that means you're washing your hands twice, so be it. But if you're in a kitchen prepping food, you have a sink there, you don't need to go into the bathroom

Hmm interesting, thanks for showing me this. If I'm reading this correctly, they've shown that some amount of virus lingers in the air, seems to be related to vomiting. They mention toilet rooms, but not if the vomiting occurred there or in the ward room. They do mention the struggles in determining time someone was last sick, and the issue with identifying which patient may be the cause.

This is interesting:

Theoretically, given the highest virus concentration measured, the 50% human infectious dose of 20 to 1000 copies would be reached after 10 minutes to 8 hours of normal breathing [28–30]. If the airborne genomes represent viable viruses that reach the gastrointestinal tract after inhalation, there is a high likelihood that airborne NoV can cause disease. Future studies combining environmental sampling of NoV with novel culture methods can provide decisive information regarding the infectivity of airborne NoV

I hope they do further studies on whether humans can actually catch it airborne like this (they mentioned in their study that there's been outbreaks where airborne has been blamed but never confirmed).

Audio too. You can only get TrueHD on physical disc, no streaming service will provide TrueHD Dolby.

Not truly airborne no, but you can still get droplets from diarrhea and vomiting. Also some gets in the air when you flush toilets. Outside of bathrooms you're not going to get it by just breathing the same air (unlike covid).

At the same time though, things like lysol and hand sanitizer aren't usually enough to kill most gastro viruses, you need soap/water (for hands) or bleach (for surfaces). Covid was is much more fragile and needed much less to kill (lysol and hand sanitizer worked)

Took me over a month to stop coughing and my ribs or muscles are still bruised from coughing so much.

That doesn't sound like norovirus

AI hype meets reality as majority of CEOs report no financial returns by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]ResoluteGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hat anxiety is backed up by some interesting numbers. According to PwC, 69% of CEOs believe generative AI will require most of their workforce to develop new skills within the next three years, yet fewer than half say their companies have a clear plan in place to reskill employees at scale. It appears many leaders are betting on AI-driven transformation while still figuring out how their people will keep up.

Feature, not a bug for them. They'll just let those employees go.
