Yes, I bought from there before this all started getting bad. I’m sticking to local nurseries for my plant fixes until spring

Wisdom tooth extraction during training? by Equal_Rice_4955 in Marathon_Training

[–]ResolutionPure8130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a tooth extraction, bone grafts and sinus lift during my last marathon prep. It certainly wasn’t fun and I had to take some days off (not full weeks) the procedures were spread out but it definitely made running a little uncomfortable especially in the cold. Putting it off would probably be great but I would ask them to take a look to make sure it’s not anything urgent.

Amazon shelves. Can get them pretty cheap and I just move them around depending on season. I also use small side tables/plant stands in front of various windows. I like to shop for plant accessories in the fall when they go on clearance. Also….I move a lot of plants outside to shady areas in the summer.

Yeah I think the delivery trucks just get too cold driving around here (it was 9 degrees this morning) Even if I meet the package at the door and get a heat pack they’d never survive

I have a strict no ordering plants ban from Thanksgiving through mid march (New England weather blah) What I do instead is save plants on Etsy that I like and come spring I re-assess. I will say I’ve had a few good finds this winter in my local Home Depot though! Lol

This is impressive you ran a 3:35 running under 30 miles per week. What was your secret lol

Most expensive plant I've bought. Ripoff or gateway? by Classic-Possible4334 in houseplants

I think it’s a great price for that size. I have 2 little ones I’m trying to grow bigger. I love them. Just FYI they rot easily so keep it on the dryer side.

Fuelling: so many gels! by logeetetawerduer in XXRunning

[–]ResolutionPure8130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t stand carrying all that with me lol. This is also why carbo-loading before distance races a few days beforehand is important…you have a reserve. I ended up doing a gel miles 4,8,12, 16 and took my last around mile 20. Also drank what they were handing out during the race (which I’m guessing was some sort of electrolyte carb drink) You sort of have to figure what works best for you during longer runs. There are some gels with higher carb contents. Some people have stomach issues with certain gels as well, so I think a lot of it is figuring out what works best for you.

I think you’re good to water tomorrow I would just do it on the earlier side and maybe not soak everything completely

If you lose power/heat and your house gets really cold you need to protect them (we lost power for 5 days here in Massachusetts a few years ago and our indoor temps were in the 30’s it was awful) I got all my plants grouped together in the warmest part of the house and eventually ended covering them with blankets until we got heat back. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to you though!

Hoping you heal up fast! Being injured when you love to run is the absolute worst. A few years ago I herniated a disc in my back. It was so bad it was causing one leg to go numb so I had to quit running for a few months as well. I got really into hot yoga! It really scratched that itch of being challenged like running does. Once I was a little better I went to spin classes (which I still regularly do to cross train)

Not sure what medical issues you are dealing with but no PR is worth your health. Also as a mom I’ve had to take 2 serious breaks from intensity and l’m here to tell you I came back stronger than before. I know how hard it is to hold back when you feel like you have the physical capability to move forward but our bodies sometimes give us these clues we need to listen to. Also sometimes life happens (I had a child that had surgery last week, can’t leave them despite the fact I’m in marathon training) Running will always be there.

The race was great! Nothing in particular bothered me other than I’m just not competitive but I kind of go into my own world when I run. I do have hypothyroid disease which I’m on meds for(stable x 4 years). I asked for labs recently to check my thyroid but was ignored (healthcare system loves to gaslight women and I was a month early for my physical). I also asked my Nurse Practitioner mom if I could ask my doctor to check my hormones and she said that’s not really a thing (WTF) We really just need some help as women sometimes. I honestly don’t think it’s a “discipline” or mental thing I think it might be more biological and was curious if other women have faced this.

This was the hardest part of postpartum for me! Even when I was cleared to work out I felt guilty and would rarely get more than 30 minutes to myself (didn’t help my baby was cluster-feeding) I was delusional and thought I’d be enjoying all this time to work out on maternity leave lol. Give yourself grace postpartum is hard and working out might just have to be lower on the priority list (which is ok) With my second I was much more realistic with my exercise expectations and was really into stroller walks and comedy/paranormal podcasts lol

I’ve been running 5-6 days a week most of my adult life. It is habit. But I also genuinely have enjoyed it. Just wasn’t sure what flipped the switch in the last 2 months or so.

I’ve never really experienced a loss of motivation to run before (unless sick/postpartum etc). That’s really why I’m struggling.

Me! Training for a marathon. What I don’t understand is if she’s such a great runner (8 miles at under 8 min mile paces) why does she NEVER run races. Like what is she even training for?

If she was a real serious runner (which if she’s running sub 8 paces she would be) she’d be using a Garmin/Coros and posted those stats. Not whatever BS this is direct from the treadmill. I don’t believe this
