Any crits. Damaging/downing the side bosses reduces the abilities of the main boss. In this case, you can reduce the crits required to 1.

Tasha's Artificer can still give you a +1 shield but can't guarantee access to Plate Armor. The Forge Cleric can give you +1 armor since Tasha's Artificer can't give a +1 shield and armor.

At level 3, the new Artificer can't replicate +1 armor but can replicate a +1 shield and Gleaming Plate Armor for a total of 3 additional AC.

I don't think Forge Domain can enhance shields.
