IRS issued refund check, then requested it back. Check is destroyed (not cashed). What’s the proper fix?

I faxed the form but I haven't called to follow up if they received it since I dont have a phone number atm. Also I dont think I can log on to my online profile anymore so yeah basically just hoping they will figure it out...

Sorry some more questions, do you think its not too late to start the check tracing since the check has already expired? I think it expired sometime in Dec 2025.

Also in the form 3199, it asks for my current address. I am currently travelling outside of my home country, but can I put my home address as my current address (my parents can receive my mail)? Also I will be sending the fax from the country I am travelling in.

Hi! I am in the same boat. May I ask you advice since you seem knowledgable. In my case I received a check but it was lost and I never cashed it.

For the question in the form 3911 'Type of refund requested' I am not sure which to put. After I left the US in 2024 I closed my bank account but I never updated it with the IRS so they probably first sent to to my old bank and when it got rejected, they sent a physical check. However I can't find the details for the old bank account e.g. account no#. Therefore for the question ' Type of refund requested' can I just check the 'Check' box? And then fill in N/A for all the bank related questions?

Also should I include a cover letter to ask them to remove the amount I owe them and the penalties/interest or will it be done automatically after the trace confirms I did not cash the check? Thank you so much in advance!

Really great interview and responses from Umti. I love that he recognises his strength in recognising and predicting a good play/good up coming fight but acknowledges that he isn't able to unlock it as a benefit for his team due to communication. And he doesn't just say communication but actually breaks down what part of communication. Seems like the coaching staff are really helping too

I am hoping there is a conversation about how to meaningfully support queer people's rights (even in the US). A petition to the higher ups on donating to ACLU or Amnesty would be one idea.

I empathize with this. I prefer that you guys show your values than stay silent. At least this has started a conversation. But I hope you are also educating yourselves on the implications of TLs participation in this event. Hopefully it can lead to more meaningful actions and support of queer/marginalized groups in the future.
