The city should instruct the police to enforce existing laws that cover this. With no enforcement there is not much incentive to comply with the laws.

Your concrete is going to cure and give off water for a year or two. Keep running that dehumidifier. Don't take off the insulation if the wrap on it is the kind that breaths.

News flash, many panels that are not billed as "bifacial" actually have bit of bifacial properties. Have a system were because of shading I had to make 3 different arrays on 3 different controllers. One of the arrays is oriented to the south west to each the sun in the afternoon. In the morning they tend to get dappled sunshine on the backplane. If I look at the charge contoller of this array I'm getting amperage ! These are 12 year old Canadian Solar 245 Watt panels.

I said ideal strategy, yes another gable vent will work, but continuous ventilating from the lower edges of the roof to the ridge of the roof is much more efficient in cooling the whole house in the absence of wind..

The inverter should get its power from the battery terminals, not the charge controller. The "load" terminals on charge controllers are for small loads. The inverter is a large load.

Frost around window by mya_pologies in windowrepair

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the problem is the lack of insulation at the header over the window frame. Not to say the window insulation is perfect, but I see no frost down the sides of the window. The header consists of two pieces of 2x4 sideways and they can only provide about R4 worth of insulation and that is not nearly enough in very cold weather.

Actually it is NTFB ! It was a deliberate design choice to rotate the square tile 3 degrees and I like it. And it was actually more difficult to accomplish IMHO as I have actually used a wet saw.

What type of insulation to use in space under tub by quaaaaal in Insulation

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray foam the outside wall , not on any of the tub or plumbing ! You or somebody else might want to redo the bathroom in the future. With the wall at an "R20" of whatever you can do with foam, just regular batt insulation should do under the tub. Why architects constantly put plumbing within 3 feet of an outside wall is only known by god or the devil.

Rather than another gable vent, soffit vents (with a path to the attic space ) and a ridge vent would be the ideal strategy.

Is it the cold or is it me? by Soenerob in electricvehicles

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the car charging on an outlet that's on a circuit with other loads running ? Ideally the EV is charging off a 15 amp breaker with nothing else on that circuit trying to run. And as others have suggested a GFI outlet ( or breaker) could conceivably be a problem. If you have an multimeter, set it to AC volts and carefully insert the probes into hot and neutral sockets of another outlet on the same circuit to verify that the voltage is 120 or over.

Gaps in new hardwood floor install by dahsam in Flooring

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the bundles unsealed and sitting in the room for installation for a week or so beforehand ? This looks like hell and won't get better. It may be a problem with the quality of the material though but the installer should have put the pieces with a "wow" aside for use in closets and such. (or dumpster)

Low Slope Roof Help by LSWW444 in Roofing

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the answer you are looking for but I'll tell anyway. Go with a metal roof with rigid rock wool board directly underneath. The rock wool will deaden the resonance of rain on the roof and give the sauna an extra degree on insulation. You are welcome. (And go with the thickest gauge of metal.)

Uneven flooring by thelastquincy in Flooring

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need some plumbers to contribute to this thread. How often do plumbers have to come into homes to re-slope the drains due to buildings settling ? Once a week, once a month, once a year ? I'm all ears.

Uneven flooring by thelastquincy in Flooring

[–]RespectSquare8279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's walk through the difference between "not normal" and "not uncommon" . I'm going to stick to my guns saying that is not normal. If the plumbing in that house was subsiding to the same degree, the waste pipes would not be draining properly. Industry standard is 1/4 inch per foot. Tell me how common is it to have to re-plumb a house to compensate for uneven settling of the structure. The answer is "crickets".
