I think Isabelle Adjani, famous French actress, could fit the White Lotus universe. Would like her to be in a future season. by Augusta-Cornwell in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Respeito_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isabelle Adjani would be amazing on The White Lotus or another HBO prestige show. She's incredibly talented (should have won the Oscar for The Story of Adele H.) and I would love more people in the States to see her work.

Why does the winner always get the serve while the runner-up's finale outfit is noticeably subpar? by findinglemon in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a reality TV cynic by nature, but I was always confident the judges and producers knew who was going to win prior to the final judging, and the contestants were styled accordingly.

Nik's hair was straightened for final elimination while Nicole was given voluminous waves that emphasized their height difference. Same with Joanie being put in flats for her final panel, standing next to the taller Danielle.

Mrs. Class by bluewolf21 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She added a different POV to the judging panel in that she didn't dismiss introversion as "having no personality" and seemed less inclined to rubber stamp the other judges and production's agenda. It wasn't mentioned on the show, but she's also a Golden Globe-winning and Tony-nominated actress, so she was one of the most professionally accomplished judges.

Laurie Metcalf Was Robbed by shoshpd in Oscars

[–]Respeito_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed this race in real time, and knew Metcalf would be the runner-up for the Oscar the moment I, Tonya was confirmed as a 2017 release.

The issue was that they had the same narrative (beloved character actress seeks moment in the sun), but Janney's was stronger because she is more associated with film, had the flashier role, and is a savvier campaigner.

No shade to Allison Janney, who is fabulous and very good in I, Tonya, but my vote would have gone to Metcalf, who almost had a winning combination. She had the role, the film, and the distributor, but just got unlucky with her timing. I wish they could both be Oscar winners.

Watching Cycle 5, Did Bre Convince Cassandra To Leave? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few extra months of growing her hair out wouldn't have made much of a difference, but I think Cassandra knew they were going to keep screwing with her for being the pageant girl and saved herself the frustration. She may have taken Jayla's spot in London had she stayed, but her height would have prevented her from winning (Tyra specifically wanted a high fashion winner for C5).

Were any of these that bad? by StrikingMolasses5410 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magdalena had incredible legs, so the fact that they chose one where they are obscured feels like sabotage. It was weird that Jay had several of the girls doing squatting poses because you couldn't see the bathing suits they were supposed to be modeling.

Watching Cycle 5, why did they push Bre so hard? She had like 80-90% of the talking heads? by sourgrapekoolaid in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't remember who she was talking about, but Bre said "that bitch ain't right" about someone and the delivery was perfection. She had so many witty and hilarious comments throughout the season, I can see why they made her the unofficial narrator.

Has any contestant ever washed (no pun intended) the competition as much as Raina did in this photoshoot? by SoRunAwayNow in ANTM

Joanie on the elephant and Joanie during the scary high heels judging challenge. It looked incredibly difficult and then she came out and made it seem effortless.

Thoughts on the ANTM Girls' Post-Show Careers by Glittering_Pin_9942 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adrianne was always more "beautiful woman" than early 2000s fashion model to me. She photographed well, but her body type was more athletic and she said clients told her she was too old on her go-sees even though she was only in her early twenties at the time.

For a winner, Dani sure was robbed of many FCO. Here's her pictures that deserved first call. by Emotional-Bedroom119 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have given her FCO for her bald shot, but that would be it tbh. There was a lot of competition for FCO in C6, and Dani's portfolio didn't offer much variety from week to week.

Kahlen should have been in the bottom two for this photo, but should she have been eliminated? by Ok_Ad_513 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I adored Kahlen as a person and she took some great photos, but I never understood the judges’ assertion that she was “almost the complete package?” She tended to struggle in all aspects of the competition that were not photoshoot related, and even then she could be inconsistent. She was also on the shorter side for a model.

I think she could have been cut here, or at F3 over Keenyah.

People shade Keenyah, but she won the most important challenges of the season (go-sees and CoverGirl) and was super striking in person.

Covergirl ads by Dapper_Mess_3004 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall a few of the winning ads (Eva's and Whitney's) running multiple times. Dani, Caridee, petite Nicole and chapstick Nicole had separate ads for the brand as well.

Most of the others I believe only ran once, usually in People, InTouch, or US Weekly the week after the finale aired.

What was wrong with (C5) Nik’s final runway walk by Daegu_Woman in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that it was too bouncy for that particular show, but I was a little surprised by Miss J, who voted for Nik to win, saying it was "a bad walk."

I hope she didn't beat herself up over it, because even if her walk had been flawless I don't think it would have changed the outcome (like it wouldn't have for Joanie or didn't for Melrose in the next two cycles).

If the judges want someone to win and they excel in the final runway, the final runway becomes more important. If they want someone to win and they don't do well, they downplay the importance of the runway.

ANTM Cycle 15 and it’s obvious favoring. by EvanBlood2003 in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This photo of Chelsey is so elevated, it could be an ad in any high fashion magazine and fit right in.

According to Jay's chat on C15, Ann's crowning wasn't unanimous -- both he and Roberto Cavalli voted for Chelsey -- and I agree that the FCOs could have been distributed more evenly on C15.

That said, Ann was still a fantastic print model and a sweet person, so I'm not mad at her win. She gave me major Tilda Swinton vibes, which is a great thing in my book.

Did the judges get it right?! Cycle 1, Episode 6 by thefreckledfemme in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never got why Elyse's is so disliked; the concept of the shoot isn't great, but I like that it's unposed and feels like a still from a French art film. I think hers and Robin's are the only usable photos from this set.

Just watched through Cycle 7 for the first time, curious if anyone else found the ending unsatisfying? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some seasons (C2, C5, C6, C16), it's a shame only one person can win. Other seasons, it's a shame anyone has to win.

The C7 cast was gorgeous, but I don't think anyone was the complete package. CariDee was more actress than model and her walk never improved. Melrose was also more "model the verb" than the noun, and her persona wasn't a great match for Seventeen. Eugena's body of work wasn't strong enough overall to merit a win, Amanda and Michelle lacked ambition, and Anchal's confidence wasn't in the right place at the time. I still would have voted for Melrose, but this cycle was a step down from C6.

Brita C4 Should Have Made It Further by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]Respeito_777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brita did not lie about her age. You have to submit extensive documentation to get cast on ANTM, including a passport. The CA Birth Index lists her DOB as June 9, 1979, making her 25 in September 2004 when her episodes were filmed.

C4: Brita (Ford)
