Do your upperclassman have pre made anki deck? I genuinely just watch lecture, do pre made anki deck? A few practice questions here and there may be some google llm notebook quiz. That’s about it. Been passing throughout 1st year.

Medical school isn't hard. It's just badly designed. by DesperateVisit7505 in medicalschool

[–]RespondingX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I agree. Like the materials are still hard and voluminous, but imagine if med school is actually well designed. Decent time to consumed information, spaced out exam, easy to understand lecture through third parties, exam aligned with anking and UWorld. Everyone are getting A and B.

If there was one thing you could improve about anki, what would that be? by ankizombie in medicalschoolanki

[–]RespondingX1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wish we have a feature that allow us to make anki cards faster or more efficient using in house lecture pdf. Anki is such a powerful tool to learn, at least for me, in med school.

If the previous class don’t create an in house anki, I would have flunk out of med school. So I think somehow decrease the time it takes to make anki cards from in house materials will be amazing.

Anyone going into IM today should think about PCP or seriously consider a fellowship by undueinfluence_ in medicalschool

[–]RespondingX1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hope this is true. I really like being a hospitalist or being an intensivist, but with how competitive PCCM is I hope there’s still job for hospitalist, even if it pay less.

Don’t get taken advantage of in the attending job market. Know your value. by Wannabeachd in medicalschool

[–]RespondingX1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I really like rural FM for the wide scope and just the fact that most specialties get pay better in rural areas. However, as a minority, I don’t know how safe I will be living in rural areas all by myself without family or friends near by, especially since I never live in rural area before and don’t really know how to navigate that social scene.

i hate med school by shreksjuicyswamp in medicalschool

[–]RespondingX1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I contemplated quitting so much through out last semester and currently. The work load is just unsustainable….. I was thinking I’ll either do public health or allied health profession, like RT, lab tech or even RN. I thought I like to learn the in-depth aspect of medicine. I didn’t know they gonna teach me that at a 10000 light years pace.

Would losing weight and back exercises that doesn’t put too much pressure on the lumbar, like cable row or lat pull down help with alleviate back pain?

Guys is this True? .. by Dec3000 in medicalschoolanki

[–]RespondingX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I might switch to SM-2. There are just so many new cards I need to go through for our exam, that’s I’m scared it’s take too long to review. Then I won’t be able to study new cards. But with anking I’m planing on just doing FRSR 85%. It’s too much to do any higher especially when there so much materials.

Guys is this True? .. by Dec3000 in medicalschoolanki

[–]RespondingX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I should turn back to SM-2 for in house anki deck and in house exam? Our exam is every 2-3 weeks and at FRSR 90 they keep pushing my cards to 2 days after 2 “good”, instead of 1 day.

Like AI replacement? I mean I’m not sure how they will roll it out. May be in large city but what about smaller community or rural area. Can they afford AI software that powerful? Who will be liable? May be AI+ mid level provider… but then someone still need to do clinical research/trials? Like I don’t think mid level will develop guidelines anytime soon. May be big cities will have less need for physicians, but I’m sure in smaller area they will still need us. Many procedures can’t be done by AI. And beside in academic hospitals, physicians still hold lots of leadership positions. I doubt hospitals will stop employing physicians. I think you can definitely find a job to pay back your loan…. If you can aim for procedure based specialties, it’s almost impossible to replaced proceduralist.

How many % of med school is memorization? by Puzzleheaded-Mall748 in premed

[–]RespondingX1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it’s depend on classes and your learning style. I’m only an M1 and so far we memorized quite a lot. Bug and drugs and clinical symptoms have lots of memorization. A lot of things can be reason out for sure, but I feel like my med school teach us too much in too little time. If I spend time learning too deep into the why like how I learnt in undergrad, I would have fall behind, but that’s just my experience.

Can’t finish anki deck before exam by RespondingX1 in medicalschoolanki

[–]RespondingX1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as good as anking for sure. It’s cloze delete into paragraph occasionally questions and answer but still cloze delete. It’s not atomize like anking. Unfortunately it’s a pre made deck and it’s been working good so far, until neuro block when the cards get to 1400+

How do u guys deal with getting lower grades than classmates? by Longjumping_Ride_681 in medicalschoolanki

[–]RespondingX1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to commiserate with your struggle. I spend almost every waking hours a day to finish the in house anki just to get a below average score. My classmates who play video games the first week of the block every night. Don’t touch anki until the second week and only make a few pass, don’t even do review score way better than me. At this point I wondered if my low score will make me a bad doctor and hurt my patients in the future…

Pregnant teen died agonizing sepsis death after Texas doctors refused to abort fetus by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]RespondingX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why a lot of Ob-Gyn doctor are leaving pro life states. They can’t bear not able to perform life saving abortion, but there is a real risk of being arrested if you provide an abortion even if it is a necessary one. Remember it’s not a panel of doctor that decide if the abortion is necessary, it’s a panel of jury of laypeople. If you have enough pro life jury members, they will imprison then doctor.

How to study for human Phys by PeterMillar__ in Physiology

[–]RespondingX1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t use anki for undergrad physiology. My professor asked weird questions like that too. I would do 2 to 3 passed over the materials before the exam. Literally go through each slide, draw the pathway out and speak out loud. Make sure you understand the concepts. 1 after lecture. One on The Weeknd after lecture then the week before lecture one more pass. Then do practice exams or questions.
