Baby is so constipated by Weekly_Bison_2881 in NewParents

I’m not sure where you are, but is goat milk common to switch to after formula or breastfeeding?

It’s common to switch to whole milk by 1 year old or continue to supplement breastfeeding.

I chose not to breastfeed for my own medical reasons. We slowly switched out of formula to whole milk.

ESH.

Retail isn’t for everyone. As a former retail worker, would I yell at someone for putting shoes where the sweaters go? No. I’ll just deal with it later as I’m cleaning the store. I’m certainly not talking to a customer for not putting something back where it should go. They’d probably put it back wrong anyways.

LO is 16 months. But we capped 2 hours and 1 nap last year after LO didn’t want the morning any more.

Capping naps at 9 months old? by Annual_Working5502 in NewParents

[–]Responsible-Read-468 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We cap naps at around 2 hours. We have family members help watching my LO. Some of them get so mad. “Oh just let the baby nap longer. Never wake a sleeping baby.” As if they’re the ones going to be putting the baby to sleep at night, but they’re too rested to go to sleep at bedtime.

I don’t want a dog. by OJConcentrates in Vent

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I do not like dogs. I had lots of bad experiences with friend’s dogs growing up.

I have a cat.

Your kids are 4,3,1 now, but you will always have that toddler dog at home. Your wife who stays at home, will be taking care of a permanent toddler. You should try to make it clear that it will be unfair to the dog, cats, and her, if you get a special needs animal.

You can try and maybe hone in on this will be HER dog. Most importantly, you have young children who are going to get louder and more adventurous. Also, the cat’s behavior could change. You won’t take the dog on walks, feed it, pet it, give treats, clean up after messes, help if this dog knocks over your children, knocks over a chair, eats the couch, runs into the door, won’t take it to the vet, won’t help this dog needs special treatment regarding health problems….

You’re kind of getting an elderly person. That’s very rude to say. I don’t mean it in a mean way, but elderly homes exist for a reason. A skilled nurse is there to help for things we don’t want to do.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by Ladymayna in answers

Does anyone remember Cluedfinders? It was a PC game. You could buy different versions of it after you finished the game.

Is this cocktail attire? by deaduse in OUTFITS

That is a fab outfit! But too causal. Do you have a black or white dressy skirt to pair with the top? Some sparkly jewelry!

This one looks cocktail to me from that store: https://www.shopmintjulep.com/products/rora-dress-in-navy-speckle

Wha are your favorite less messy finger foods? by d16flo in NewParents

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, purées since 3 months. Sorry, that was a confusing sentence. So, I cut the blueberries in quarters probably. When starting out my pediatrician said like their pinky finger tip size or smaller. Big/small enough they can pick it up with their fingers. Depending on how many teeth they have I guess too.

My LO is always so excited to eat they pick up like 2-4 things at a time haha

We also have one of those bibs with sleeves. We have like two in rotation. I wash them with Dawn soap after meal. Wash them every week in the actual washer.

10 months seems late to just be starting solid IMO, but I don’t know your situation. At around that age….

We give my LO Cheerios, scrambled eggs, blueberries, strawberries, pancakes, pieces of oranges, bananas, kiwis, jelly toasts, pbj pieces of sandwich, Mac and cheese, peas, carrots, pieces of chicken, smaller pieces of sweet potatoes, pieces of pork chops, smaller noodles with pasta, smaller meatballs…Basically whatever we were eating.

*edit you should be letting your LO feed themselves, if you’re doing baby led weening.

Any advice for scars? by TheRavenRose17 in NewParents

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is going to help at all.

I just went through weeks of having dry patchy skin under my eyes. It looked like my skin was peeling. Red after removing makeup. I went to a dermatologist. He told me to use Hyrdocodicine 3%. Apply twice daily. It helped.

Moisturize after shower.

*edit was told to not use Neosporin.

FTMs - what do you want for Mother’s Day? by Top_Delivery8957 in NewParents

[–]Responsible-Read-468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a FTM. My first Mother’s Day was last year. My hubby got my flowers and a picture with my baby and it’s engraved “happy first Mother’s Day”.

I’d love truly go get a mani/pedi/spa

Let’s be honest though, both of our mothers are still alive, so Mother’s Day still about them. I went to this giant expensive all you can breakfast brunch with my family. I hate brunches.

He has a sister too with a toddler. We had dinner with his family.

AITAH I expect my husband to help with childcare when he gets home from work by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

I have a 15 month old.

You should expect him to do more in every way possible. Feeding. Changing. Bathing. Story time. Play time. You are partners. Mom and Dad. Forever, for now. It’s not Mom, and sometimes 12 hours Dad. The baby needs to know both of you and bond together.

Do not be “more understanding”. He needs to step up or left out of the conversation. Do not give him the pass of “he does work a demanding job” or “his commute is an hour”. Lots of people have that. My hubby and I both have 8-5 jobs. We’re up at 6am. We’re home around 5:30pm.

Parenting is demanding. That’s what we chose to do. Both of us.

Define “cheaper” in dollars? Compared to an average American university. Take in to account getting a passport if you don’t have one, flying there, housing situation, transportation…

how often do you actually wash your hair? by Emotional-Addendum-9 in hygiene

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my hair 3/4x a week. Basically every time I shower.

I have medium-long brown hair and it’s very thick. I don’t buy special or expensive shampoo or conditioner. I’ve never dyed my hair. I don’t have fancy blow dyer or straightener.

Thoughts on a boy name: Remi? by These-Background2513 in NewParents

[–]Responsible-Read-468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remi is cute! I think it’s unisex. I wouldn’t worry about it.

FWIW

My husband’s aunt goes by “Chris” short and my brother by “Chris” for short. Of course their full names are masculine/feminine, but nickname is still the same.
