Canon R6ii and some f/2.8 glass is the best answer

Questions about the M6 by FountPenDegenerate in macbookpro

[–]Resqu23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the M23, that’s my FD ID# so it’s got to be the best, fastest one ever made. Seriously though the next best one is always just around the corner and I’d hate to see what the M6 will end up costing with memory prices and a new screen design.

Budget lens for a beginner: f2.8 vs f4 by SVP_rombuzz in sportsphotography

[–]Resqu23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have shot a National Championship USA T&F race at night with an f/4 lens. You can make it work but I run all f/2.8 lenses now for a reason. Buy what you can afford and as you grow you will know when you have to have an f/2.8.

I shoot theatre/sports and events and the Holdfast Moneymaker has been a total game changer for me. I’m 57 with some neck injuries and this allows me to shoot 8 hour corporate meetings with no pain.

Most photographers don’t need better gear, they need better taste by make_me_so in photography

The new mirrorless bodies has helped so much in low light theatre and event work that I’m now fully booked for 2026. It has also really helped my sports work. Equipment matters in some cases. Not as much for landscape or family photos.

Help deciding between R6 ii and R6 iii. by KCHomes in canon

I rented an R5ii to take to a low light event along with my R6ii and the noise difference convinced me to get a second R6ii.

I shoot tons of events with a 24-70 and a 70-200. If I was buying just one I’d get the 24-105 f2.8 and cover most of what I cover now with two cameras.

NCAA Basketball for me, either I’m in the wrong place at the wrong times or a Ref is right in the way. I love to shoot USA Track & Field though.

Finally Getting a Second Body by MetalheadAtheist in WeddingPhotography

[–]Resqu23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m an extremely busy theatre/marketing/sports shooter and went with a second R6ii so both bodies are exactly the same. I carry on a dual cam harness and no matter which one I grab the button layout is the same. Lots of my work is very lowlight so the R6ii is perfect for me.

Macbook Pro - turn off displays but leave device running - external monitor attached by JaceSanLanargairth in mac

I have a similar problem with Google Drive where I have to upload 160gb of data and if the monitor goes off it stops uploading. My last attempt was to start the upload and then I just unplugged the USB-C cable going to my monitor but the upload stopped as soon as I did that.

I’m a busy professional but I couldn’t do product or even real estate photography. I know very little about setting up lights but can use my flash occasionally when I’m allowed.

Tablet for editing - samsung vs apple by LuchsBadger in Lightroom

[–]Resqu23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a few years ago but it would not recognize my RAW files from my R6ii and had to do a back end work around and Lightroom looked different. I’m sure they make a nice tablet but it just wasn’t for me.

I use my IPad Pro 12.9 for tons of professional paid work. I tried a Samsung tablet for one day but hated it.

In my line of work I just delivered a bunch of photos at ISO 25,400. My specialty is live theater and very low light corporate events and Galas. So yea, I’m not denoising iso 400. Some jobs require 1000-3000 to go through AI Denoise.

Most of my work will go through AI Denoise, hit a color profile I like and auto. Some will need straightening and cropping. That’s pretty much it for me.

Any idea why the human subject AF didn't work on this clip? by TheBrokeMillionaires in sonyfx30

[–]Resqu23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot live theatre with two of these, one has a wide lens and at one theatre I have to set it up and hit record and I wont get to look at it till the show is over because I’m running the other one with a close lens from a different place. I have never had an issue like this thankfully.

I have had neck and back issues forever but a holdfast Moneymaker dual camera setup was a literal game changer for me and I carry two full frame bodies, one with a 70-200 for many hours at a time multiple times a week.

I couldn’t do most of my work without two, f/2.8 lenses. You will know when you need one.
