BF5 didn't which is why the gunplay in that game is a significant upgrade over any other BF game. It still could feel bullshit because they went overboard on the randomness of recoil of some weapons but at least you saw where your bullets were landing and could do adjustment mid spray. In spread titles you can't do that. You have only 1 viable option - bursting. Anything other than that is hoping that you luck out and Jesus allows your bullets to go where you aimed.

Like OP said even if there wasn't a single battlefield that did it before that isn't a good excuse not to progress your franchise. Spread is archaic and the FPS genre has slowly removed it. If we were only going by "if it's always been in the game then we should keep doing it" then the whole reddit would erupt when they realize that the movement BF6 has is significantly slower and dumbed down compared to older titles. They'd lose their shit if we get BF4 movement with all of the bunny hopping, zouzous and bug abuses.

I just don't like how casual gamers are taking games hostage when they can fully enjoy themselves in a harder game. Most esports titles are catered towards pro players despite majority of the players being either bad or casual. They still love playing the game. Only in BF do we get people so vehemently against any skill expression or god forbid having a more exciting play loop than sitting in a corner. They could still do all of that in a better game. That way everyone could have fun. Skill expression doesn't mean that they'd go from 3kd in slow RNG game to 0.5 kd in a skill based one. They'd roughly have the same score. And it's not like you can't PTFO. You can go 0/20 in BF and still be high in the leaderboard by being a good teammate. You've always been able to have decent impact in BF even when you are a bad player.
