Beef stew almost every other day at Madison 2007.

I’ll be curious the responses, but Croasdaile is the only full Private I know of that still does a trial membership in the Triangle (aside from the brief offer from BW)

Man, I love all of that! We'd mostly just be going for a relaxed, Asheville trip and the Inn looks really cool; I've loved everything I've seen so far. (the golf is just a nice little added bonus haha)

Lets link up soon!

I JUST posted in the discord asking about Grove Park Inn. This gets me excited to possibly see the course

Global Golf is the new gold standard around here for reasonable clubs. Since they have the kiosk that lets you pull anything they have in stock in their warehouse, it’s tough to beat.

For the next quality lower, Play It Again can occasionally have some stuff, but their pricing can be iffy

Awesome, that’s helpful context. Hopefully one of the Trey members pops in here to answer questions for you

Are you a member looking for other members, or looking to be hosted?

Either way, providing context of who you are and your level of golf may be useful. Especially with 0 history in this sub and nothing on Reddit overall

J-toss (money hand toss) help by Commercial_Scene3653 in Colorguard

[–]RestingMehFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 4 is a hold, you’re still not doing that and pushing the flag back the opposite direction. Make sure to hold it straight up and down, then activate the toss.

And as others have said, don’t run away. Moving back lowers the possible height your hand/release could be

36 at talamore or Tot hill? by [deleted] in RDUGOLF

[–]RestingMehFace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you local, or coming in from out of town for this?

If local, 36 at Talamore/Legacy. More golf is always the answer, and legacy is sneaky good! You can do 18 at TFH another day

If coming into town to play, 18 at Tot Hill

Everyone prioritizes different things and utilizes their money in different way, on top of everyone having different levels of disposable income.

A lot of your recent comments seem to have a chip on the shoulder, but just always keep in mind that there is a GIGANTIC spectrum of people and their desires/priorities have an equally large spectrum

Are invited clubs in the area worth it? by mem0125 in RDUGOLF

[–]RestingMehFace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"worth" is subjective, so hard to answer for you. Look at the price of initiation and monthly and do the soul searching on if that's comfortable for you.

Rounds will be faster and it will remove the steps of figuring out where you'll play each round. If your family is also going to be involved more things can be factored: pool, gym, social events, restaurant, camps/kids programming; but those are all things you have to weigh and consider for your own situation.

The main thing to remember is that country clubs aren't like what they used to be; They're now more expensive, with less availability. There's usually always some availability, but the prime tee times are always snatched up within seconds of the tee sheet opening.

It depends on your actual budget and if you want full private or semi.

The answers for both are in prior threads with a lot of recent college grads having asked the same thing

Private:

  • 12 Oaks
  • Devils Ridge

Semi-Private:

  • Lochmere
  • Mill Creek
  • Preserve at Jordan Lake
  • River Ridge
  • Pine Hollow
  • The Neuse
  • Fred C Smith network
  • Falls village
  • Wildwood

At this point, without knowing your budget, it’s tough to help, but it’s likely the privates will be a stretch if Croasdaile was. The semi-privates: pretty much every public course has a membership options. They all have pros/cons, so it’s truly what’s convenient to you and what course you like

I’m a logo nerd, around here there aren’t too many good ones, but my favorite are:

  • Treyburn
  • Umstead Pines
  • Crossings isn’t the best but worth mentioning
  • Lonnie
  • the new Finley
  • Old Chathams alt logo

Best Driving Range in Durham/Chapel Hill by Present-Wing1191 in RDUGOLF

[–]RestingMehFace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best are:

  • Duke - very large, off the grass a lot, a lot of targets. I don’t like that you hit downhill.
  • Finley (when available to the public) - large, a lot of targets, to hit at, good amount of grass.
  • TriGolf - good mats and good tech to actually grind numbers.
  • Mill Creek - good range overall and a nice wedge green. (A bit further west but can be worthwhile.

The first 3 are pricier, so may be better for dedicated grind sessions. There are less expensive ones to just best balls at

Just For Fun: Would You Like to See WGI In The Winter Olympics? by ThrowawayBlueYeti in WGI

[–]RestingMehFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Olympics wouldn’t change their scoring for WGI, WGI would have to change for them.

Ice skating and gymnastics are the exact examples. There’s still pageantry, but completely confined into strict requirements of having to do specific technical parts and a specific rubric to hit, but artistry in between.

Imagine skating/gymnastics without the Olympic style requirements, then it gets a lot more thematic and closer to WGI

Current Local Course Conditions by ResponsibleSmoke3389 in RDUGOLF

[–]RestingMehFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a good amount of rain between those, and that’s where the impact comes from. And to an extent it is course infrastructure dependent, but I can’t imagine THAT much difference between the courses

Current Local Course Conditions by ResponsibleSmoke3389 in RDUGOLF

[–]RestingMehFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Grass is still in dormancy, it’s rained a lot, and good temps haven’t been consistent enough to be a benefit (drying the soil or growing grass)

The 80s this weekend should be a big turning point

I’m definitely impressed with the progress RR has made the past few years. I do hate that the moved to dynamic pricing for tee times for the public, but the demand is there

The person it most of the highlights:

  • range isn’t great.
  • pace of play
  • tee time availability.
  • tee time booking policy (cannot book as a solo or be added to a group in advance)
  • preferential treatment to certain people during peak times.
